First Attempt.....
Discussion
Hi Peeps...Well its been a while so i thought i would post up...Made a friend a mat for his VW and then thought...Hang on mines a little crusty so made a drivers side mat for Poppy...The TVR badge came out a little bit pished ..Don't know how as i was extra careful..Still its 100 times better than what i had.
VW one...The TVR badge was just rested on there...
Wedge mat
Might also have my first classic car re-trim...
Cheers

Hi Peeps...Just thought i would show you the mat fitted...I made a bit of a boo boo but it actually worked out better than i thought...Initially i should of turned the original mat upside down when i made a template from it but like a doughnut i never...However I'm glad i didn't as its a good fit for the passenger footwell and the badge is on the better side...Just need to make one for the Drivers side and some for the parcel shelf...I will make them for beer tokens if you are interested..The carpet sheeting is only available in black or grey...These being black but its hardwearing rubber backed floor mat material and i have fitted some anti-slip pads to the underside....I can put whatever colour banding on...I will be making plusher carpets with pile..Logo .Heel pad and trim but they will be more than beer tokens...More like whiskey vouchers...

Wow...Its nearly been three years since I started to teach myself to trim and work with leather...
I have done a near full interior of a FHC....
Mine a couple of times, although I think I will go with the red & Black with re-veneered woodwork..It will be dash out this winter for a re-trim, although I do have a spare one that I could trim first..., replace all the illumination.
And my latest first attempt of some Vixen seats...These are bloody tough to trim...Just a bit of tweaking on the fronts.
I re-constituted the old foams as the customer didn't want new foam, the process see's the foam retain its original shape and bounce, unless it is truly biscuit crumbs...
Still learning loads....
Cheers

Mark, truly impressed with your skills. I didn't realise you'd done Paul's interior - looks fantastic. Cheers.
Thanks Keith, I was hoping it made the fest so people could have a look...Hey ho...Got an 8 seater VW to look at next week...Just need a good cure for arthritis now and I will be well away...
Just a little update....
I bit the bullet and stripped my original Wedge drivers side seat..The back bolster is in good nick...however its a bit like shortbread on the underside of the bottom bolster but I have a way of giving it new life, although at this stage in its deterioration is not as pliable..just stops it causing arguments... ..."you told me you were giving up biscuits due to health reasons".....
The upper B bolster foam has this stamped on it....
Does this mean I must wave more at people?...
I have completed the upper half in vinyl for now and fitted some fluted perf that I had left over from the Vixen seats...I know its not everyones cuppa but I like it..even if the headrest does look like a cooked ham joint...
Please note: The covers are not fully fitted so may look a big baggy..
It is certainly a different learning curve...Compared to the early Tasmin seats these are a doddle...the fittings for the facings are the same but applied differently...Just need to source those now and I can complete one seat...Happy days.
Here is a mock fit...Just rested on the existing Griff seats...Next is dash and then new carpets and over mats..
Thanks for looking, feel free to express your op onions...

Not sure about the colour combo, headrest and the bit where you put your bum doesn't match the bit where your back goes, maybe a little bit of thought along those lines
will have to see it in the flesh but it looks good not sure about the ribbed black bit though
I thought the grey bottoms went with the red and black top...will have to see it in the flesh but it looks good not sure about the ribbed black bit though
I wasn't too sure about the fluting but the theme was red & black, I only did the headrests in the quilting as its not really that hardwearing, some people hate the quilting but I like it... the fluting is much more hardwearing..especially for someone who has an exceptional physique like mine...
Well how time flies...Fitted the trimmed Wedge seats back in...They will be done again next year in leather...
I will be taking the dash out soon to trim that and sort all the illumination bulbs out..and then its carpet...rear hood...done....
I will be trimming the dash black with red inserts...the arm rest are getting done again but in black with red inserts...I didn't want too much red....
Made a new rear parcel shelf overeat...
Thanks for looking..
