A friend of mine was at a classic car show last weekend in Ripon North Yorkshire
and photographed the following pics of a Wedge for me

It seems to be a bit more of a hybrid than usual?

Says 2.8 on the back but has vented bonnet, 400SE wheels and 400 Dash?

Anything else?

Anyone know it?

Produced for export. Many were autos with air con etc.

Aye, commonly known as the last of the 'US-spec' cars. Used to be one (dark green) on IIRC a D-plate near me. If you look closely the shell is 'de-seamed', i.e. no panel gaps.
Chassis had the square-section outriggers like a 400SE.

I nearly bought one of these once. The thing that attracted me was the 400SE dash on a 2.8, and the fact that it had wrap around rubber bumpers. Only, I think they are mostly automatic as they were mostly for the American market. I thought they looked quite neat and a little different.

It has been parked with the triumph's, wonder if the owner thinks it's a TR7.

One interesting thing about these cars is that they have the chassis with the narrow centre section between the seats; the handbrake is under the dash and they have a 4 dial centre dashboard section. I assume that's to allow wider seats to accomodate the lardy Americans (sorry for the generalisation, but a wedge is rather narrow in the driving seat department!)

This makes the chassis very similar if not the same as the 4 dial SEACs. When I discovered my SEAC that had been sitting in a field for ages, my first thoughts were to buy one of these American auto V6s and swap the chassis over.

out of interest?......what is the difference in tunnel width between the SEAC and normal wedge?

Easy...Wedge = Cramped arm space with elbow constantly resting on the arm rest...SEAC = More elbow room , Wider seats and generally more comfortable....With the narrower transmission tunnel and the cut out in the door card it just makes more sense...Ziga

sounds like a 2 inch narrower tunnel then ;-)
