So my clutch has finally given up on my 400se, I have 2 questions which hopefully someone will be able to answer for me
1 is it possible to put in a new clutch without taking the engine out?
And 2 does anyone know what is the best clutch to put in?

I have called Rimmer Bros and when I said I had a TVR 400 se he said "a TR what?" Then told me I would need the engine number so I looked on my V5 and all it says is NCK-45HW which just confused the bloke at Rimmers.

Actually I have one more question
Should I replace anything else while doing this job?

Any help gratefully received

The clutch on my 400 was changed just before I got it, and I know the engine came out to do it (photos in the file).

I fitted an AP racing one (see clutch section...) and it's done well with my supercharged beastie. Standard Borg and Beck cover though.

Thanks

I don't have as much power as you but I guess it pays to fit the best possible

I got one from Rpi as the AP kit was on a long lead time and I wanted to get the engine back in, however if i'd known the chassis was rotten at that time I could have waited for the AP kit. If you are in a rush this was the one I got, its an AP cover with a valeo plate. No idea how well it works as my engine and box are sitting on the garage floor.

I got mine refurbished at Orca Clutches....what these guys dont know about cluthes isnt worth knowing!!

I told him it was for a V8 so he made what he suggested would be uprated but smooth for traffic...and what i have is perfect. Doesnt judder and you can change with no slip in any gear changes....my old one didnt enjoy that!

Here it was when i got it back:

Cost £175 with VAT.

I also have the ali thrust bearing type so they put a new bearing on the shaft for me for £36.

their website is http://www.orcaclutch.com/index.html
