Could be but I'm not so sure...I wish i had taken a couple more pics as the shadow moved equally as much to the left of the vapour trail and if the sun had moved that fast then i think i would of poo'd my pants!...I have a couple of pics that i took where i live as i have seen this line before, Normally a lot wider and in winter...It looks thiner but it went straight across the sky.

Yeah I know what you mean.... I remember the first time I saw this. I'm 45 now and was probably around 11 when I first noticed it with my Dad. Had us both scratching our heads for ages. We thought of all kind of strange things at the time.... Could it be a shockwave ? No how could it stay the same width as the trail etc...

Their could be a decent crosswind at 35,000 feet. The wind can do some funny things to con trails. I remember seeing dissipating contrails with a kind of pulse.

Google it and you have people saying it was the Aurora and what we were seeing was a pulse / scram jet lol !!! No it was just a disappearing contrail pulled this way and that by the wind....

Was thinking of going to Wings & Wheels but then another opportunity came up closer to home. A photo op with the last surviving Hawker Hurricane that flew in the Battle of Britain and is still flying today. After reading your experience i think i made the right choice.
