Hi all,

just spotted a twin rose jointed adjuster bar on flea that replaces the standard slotted bracket. Anyone ever tried one?

Cheers.

Adam, you're on. Looks an easier way of tensioning things. Send me an email and I'll sort payment. Do you need the existing alternator bracket bolt centre to centre dimensions? Cheers.

Damn I thought someone would undercut me! I guess they are all the same so I'll make two, one for me (prototype) and one for you... anyone else want in?

There should be a good inch of adjustment I would have thought, from fully screwed-in to fully screwed-out, maybe more. I use a tensioner on the jeep and it's much easier to get a repeatable belt tension.

Do you want hex alloy bar like those ones? Should be easy to get a spanner onto.

Yes please. My alternator regularly chirps and I have to adjust the belt so a tensioner would make it considerably easier, and look a bit blingy. Fancy one as well Mr Zigaziga!

Morning All.

Adam, would it be ok to add my name to the list please ??
I would like to have a better way of controlling the adjustment on my alternator.

Thanks.

OK I'll order the materials then - should have the first one made early next week then I'll road test it. The only unusual item being the left hand thread taps. But there are some on the flea.

It will only take a few minutes to make each one once I have the length correct.

So that's four so far....

Adam I've had a look at mine. Slide brackets runs up from low down , dog legs around heater hose then goes to engine side of alternator. Current bolt to bolt dim is 250mm so not the same as others. I'll have to fit a spacer in bottom bolt to allow adjuster to clear heater hose. Is this the same as other cars? 250mm is quite long.

That is quite long - 10".

I can make different length bars so it won't be a problem if the first one is too short.

Adam, okay thanks - let me know if it's a bit extra due to the additional material.

Existing bracket goes up vertically like this:

The bar looks quite close to the main water hose - what is the clearance like?

As the hex rod will be thicker than a steel bar.

Adam, if I put a 20mm spacer in at the bottom to pull the adjuster away from the block and water hose then I've got 20 to 25mm clear in front of the hose to fit the adjuster. What will be the diameter of the hex bar?

I'm looking at a 1/2" one - 12mm so that will be plenty.

Just looked at mine and it looks exactly the same - about 10" between the bolts. And thee pipe in the same place too.

Thank goodness - was getting concerned that too many bits on mine seemed to be from a different box of bits to everyone elses.

Adam, Wedge has lasted the last 26 years without a blingy, sexy rose jointed adjuster thingy so a few weeks probably wont make a difference! Cheers.

I'm sure it will only be a few days delay - I can get two straight bits out of the bent rod so I reckon it will be mid next week for the first one made and under test.
