Has anyone got a good 3.54:1 power lock diff for a Tasmin they want to sell or swop for a 4.1:1.

Hi mate...Have you looked on the wedge parts hoard?...Hallsie has a diff for a 390se...Might be what you want...Cheers...Ziga

4.1:1...! Hell's teeth, you could drive up walls with a diff like that - great for hillclimb or the traffic light grand prix but cruising fuel consumption would be a bit yikes

Having said that, I do have the standard diff available, non Power lock if that helps?

Ian, If I mated the diff to a 4 speed long geared type 5 box, would that make it a bit better on the cruising?

Hi Stu,

I am trying to find out if the crown wheel and pinion from a standard diff (3.54:1) could be fitted into my current powerlock 4.01:1 diff. I will be back soon

I'm not sure of the ratios mate, sorry, but I suspect that top gear on the 4-speed would be 1:1 whereas it was a bit les than that (something daft like 0.93:1) on the 5-speed... so the 5sp would fractionally have the edge, although a true overdrive top would have been nice.
