The Renault 12 became the Dacia Denem and now that Dacia are pushing their wares in the UK it might be possible to get some old stock from their dealers...?

There was also a near-identical version that had a plastic rather than metal backplate, fitted to some models of the Reliant Rialto; I hear some people have made them fit their wedges.

Thanks Guys. Have emailed RT (from Australia) but not heard back. Any idea how much they are charging?

As an alternative, the Mk1 Toyota MR2 had lights almost identical in size. Just a few mm longer and narrower but close enough to fit in the bumper recess (I measured one when I thought the owner wasn't looking).

Reliant rialto thats what I fitted. They have plastic bodys an all so they dont fall to pieces when the rain settles there.

Adam, they were almost exactly the words I was going to post yesterday . There are parallels to the Austin Princess (looked more like a frog than a princess) and they both show how not to do a wedge design.

I shall check out the MR2 tip as they're everywhere here. Plus RT won't return my emails :-(

Then I need to start the quest for rear lights, well the nearside (kerb) one anyway... Capri Mk3 but similarly problematic to get in good cond, and not remanufactured from what I can see.

Thought: If an enterprising chinese factory set itself up to make hard to get classic car parts it would clean up!

Thanks Geoff, but I note neither ebay seller will post internationally. Shame.

Maybe success! One of the Ebayers has agreed to look into international postage for me, so I will see where that takes us. Thanks for the offers guys, that's what keeps these cars on the road!

Adam, I didn't even think of SD1s. I assume they fit then?

The 2.8i Capri never made it to Oz (nor the Granada) although the Essex engined Capri did, so no spares locally at all. Should be fun when I get to the cologne engine then...

Thanks again.

Hi mate...Rear light clusters from a MK3 Ford Capri for sale....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Capri-2-8i-rear-lig...

Some more here...
http://www.google.co.uk/aclk?sa=L&ai=CEYxXesgc...

I also have 1 x plastic backed O/S indicator/sidelight..And 1 x N/S Lens only which is an original one as its slightly darker than the other but in good condition...The O/S lens has a crack near the screw hole..(Clear side) which was probably caused by over tightening..Its not that noticeable as its on the top and not the front of the lens...You are welcome to have them for the postage... smile

Toby, for info -

A few Capris and Sierras DID make it to NZ, so there are a few Cologne engines about, in 2.8 and 2.9 form.
Still quite rare here, but at least many Kiwi car dealers do know what a Capri and a Cologne V6 is....

This is a backup really, but a bit nearer for you than UK. www.trademe.co.nz (a Kiwi ebay) has a big used cars and parts section.

Hi Andy, yeah I meant dealer imports rather than personal ones. I agree, the "European Ford" contingent at car shows here is definitely on the up. I saw a Turbo Capri here (Perth) a couple of years ago.

Thanks Hans, will pm you. Still nothing from RT, what's with those guys??

Hi Toby,

http://www.ebay.fr/itm/CLIGNOTANT-RENAULT-12-SERIE...

Perhaps this can help you

He has the L/H and R/H blinkers in stock. 12€ each.
Does deliver over Europe... You can ask him if he delivers to Australia.

Cheers
