Have Classic Cars Reached Peak Value?
Discussion
Now that my Wedge is sold, I am looking around for another toy. Not necessarily a TVR but anything that tickles my fancy. It's been just over a year since I've searched around for another car and I've noticed something in the classic car market that wasn't there before. Increasingly, I am coming across adverts that use the phrase 'reduced for quick sale' or 'reducing collection' or 'best offer'. These are phrases that I seldom came across last year. It used to be a more, take it or leave it attitude, and I'm beginning to wonder if the classic car market has reached it's peak. I mean lets be honest, the asking prices of the silliest classics were going through the roof about this time last year. This is not however reflected so much on the Wedge, as they have always been under valued. It seems to be happening more on your so called 'true classics'. The Wedges still seems to be on a trickle increase, and from what I can see people are realising that it's a lot of car for your money. They look stunning and unlike most other classics still keep up, and beyond modern traffic. I have spoken to a few non TVR classics that are of interest to me and surprise surprise, the owners seem much more mellow than before. They are more keen to shift their classics and turn them into cash. I don't know, maybe it's just me, and it's all in my head. One thing I do know is that I have an empty garage I need to fill ASAP. Withdrawal symptoms are already setting in!

Simple answer is; No ....
I'm on the continent, where prices across the board have stagnated, in the UK they are at present starting to level up with Europe.
The UK is sort of over the crunch, we are still feeling it (Hello ? Brussels !) IOW globally we need an economic boom and the prices will start rising again....
Just my thoughts...

Hi Tony, hope it went to a good home....
How about a 1999 Merc S500 ?
No ???.....ok then.........
I am quite experienced on classic cars having recently sold a beautiful classicv mini at a bargain price of £5250 !!!
The classic mini market is getting silly to be honest, try picking a decent one up for less than £3k without any rust....no chance !!!!!
I bought and sold a nice Renault 5 GT Turbo earlier on the year, it was mint and fantastic to drive. Very very quick..... It sold for less than 3k !!!
The classic car scene is very unpredictable isn't it.
I tell you what marque is starting to increase and that is the Peugeot 205 gti. Another french tin box I'm afraid but you watch, the prices in 5 years will be very high.
Just my 2 pennies worth........

Minis bring back some memories for me. When I was a teenager my parents bought a brand new Mini from then, the famous 'Halls of Finchley' main agents. It was meant for my mum but I often used to drive it to college. No disrespect to Mini lovers but it was horrible. Noisy, bumpy underpowered and unreliable. When we finally got rid of it, we couldn't even give it away. How times have changed and people love them. They are actually changing hands for thousands of pounds.
I wouldn't want to be seen dead in one myself. I guess it's a situation where you either love them or hate them. Same could be said about the Wedge in a way, because people who love them, really love them and those who hate them, really hate them. (usually the neighbours).

What about this one???
You might need a short coffin, mind. ;^)
Nice try but it's missing the deck rollers and the end stops that prevent the coffin sliding fore and aft (the rear one usually has a line of holes so you can pick the nearest before you screw the knob up).You might need a short coffin, mind. ;^)
Most people don't realise that a lot of real hearses are double-deckers and often carry the 'next' coffin under the deck. Some have air suspension to help hide the fact.
(Went to several hundred funerals as a hearse and limousine driver back in the early 90s...)

Sorry but anything French just reminds me of the first and last time i tried fresh oysters..In France....
PS: Its a good job that only the rear lights on my Wedge are French...And they are at the back and i spend very little time there so its manageable..
