Hi all, I am likely to be buying a new nose for the 1984 Tasmin in the next couple of months. I have had a look around the forum for posts on this, without success.

I would be interested to hear from anyone who has a car with this section fitted. Are you pleased with the work and importantly, has it stood the test of time?

Thanks, Toby

I've not had a nose cone but did purchase a rear valance (cost a lot less that a second hand one!), I was very pleased with the finish of the item. Must actually fit it at some point... smile

They came to BBWF a few years ago and their panels looked good quality.

An alternative is to have someone chop one off a scrap tub... keep an eye on the ads.

Thanks Glen, your memory is correct. Spoke to Doug and viewed some photos but it looks like a 350 to me, different rear lights and lower rear valance for the single exhaust. Close but no cigar! Don't know enough to know whether the front end is the same as my mine. Looks identical but who knows.

Trevor's parts are excellent quality, probably better than the originals.

He made the front end for my Griffith and I went over to see him break it from the mould and it looked amazing before it had even been prepped.

Doug also has a heap of original factory moulds......did he mention any wedge ones.......it was like a factory mould grave yard last time I was there lol

Don't DG have the rights to the Wedges as well as the M series cars?

My car had a new proboscis, courtesy of the prior owner.

I'm in the US so it was an improvement on the front of a US car with its front bumper that look like it belongs on a sea going tug.

Can be expensive, are you sure repair might not be a better choice.

I have the bills somewhere, but the cost I think was $3,900. Supply and fit, respray with change of colour. Would be more in todays money.

Edit to include picture.
This was done more than 10 years ago, not fallen off yet.
Paint not fairing too well though, needs a respray, lost clear coat in places.

Photo of the body shows stacks of wedge moulds in the background..

Dash is wrong for my car too, shame.

TET nose bumpers etc plus shipping is just under 1500 pounds, but don't think this can be repaired without them:

Can anyone give me a definitive answer on whether I can use a 1986 350i nose on a 1984 280i please? Are the external dimensions the same? If so I'll ask Doug to chop it and send me the bit I need. Thanks in advance, Toby

i have repair worst with a centre panel from TET, you dont need a full front end at big bucks

but i do have a front end (front arches forward) from a dead 350.

i also have a bonnet from a 280 will check if a fit and advise (only useful if you havent purchased already)

but not until thurs/friday

Thanks, not purchased anything yet. Waiting for repairer later this week. As you can see the damage extends to the top of the nearside wheel arch. Can you post some photos or PM me please? I still have the 280i bonnet. Hinges are ripped out but otherwise fine to re-use, thanks.

also give this lot a buzz.......they have this early 280 which I recall an old advert about offering the front section like you need FYI = http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TVR-TASMIN-BONNET-TVR-28...

Not a whole spare car, boot's missing... what a P.O.S.... point taken though. I need to ring customs and ask whether a car imported for spares only attracts the same duty as a car to be licensed.
