I know its no consolation at the minute mate but at least you are doing the right thing and doing it properly and not spouting st to everyone else...Im not going to open up old wounds but i was accused of bodging on a "Shoestring" but the proof was there for all to see that i did it properly...Its bks really but there is always next year mate...I hope you are still coming to the fest as we can have a laugh and forget the shyte...

By the way there is no private collections allowed at the fest and if people do want to display then its £25 per car per day to charity...Sorry new regs....smile

They are of course welcome to park among us..Any historically viable vehicle will be allowed to be shown....Oh and anybody pitching up gazebos or flags will find them in the bin on the way out...biggrin
I probably shouldnt have spouted off on here but I am absolutely fking fuming. I know its an old car and I accept that there will be issues and breakdowns and I have no problem with that but for a load of faults to be caused by bodging to cover up the big fault really makes my piss boil.
It must have taken nearly as long to do all the bodges as it would have to do the gaskets.

Exactly...Obviously done by someone with no real interest in TVR's...Or mechanics it seems..Some people are heartless mate..You'll be back in the drivers seat before you know it and grinning from ear to ear again..Hope the pump and tank help towards the cause..smile
I sent a different one which was refurbished and was the original on Delilah, Its the same type...The other was ...Well You know..eerrr...So i wouldn't want to boc your car with it...whistle
Ive got to re-do the fuel lines as the work done by a reputable TVR "Specialist" who got paid in full for the work did it with no thought for what he was doing...I wouldn't call it a bodge...or was it...What is a "Bodge"...Something that is temporarily fixed or not fixed properly..Mind you it did stop leaking fuel when he first done it so it would count as a bodge..

Keep the faith .....

Cheers mate, you are just a star so generous and helpful.
The money for the PAS pump is on its way, thanks again for the pump and the header tank.

I definitely owe you a stiff drink at the fest.

Thanks Steve but I should be good for the fest, I have decided to bite the bullet and asked Phil to see if he can get the car done before the Holland trip if he cant it should still be ready before the fest.

Interesting - did they really need skimming or was this just a precaution belt and braces like?

Can you ask them what the surface finish "smoothness" spec was for the heads? (If they don't know then that tells a story on its own...)

Phil told me that they always get the heads skimmed to make sure they are flat, I dont know how long my gaskets had been leaking but I think it was pretty long term so it seemed sensible to me.
I will ask PHil what the smoothness spec was, pretty bloody shiny is as much as I can say
