Gents,
Apologies if covered earlier but would welcome your thoughts on this.
Refurbished motor installed from Rob sport and motor raises but will not drop.
Oddly once pulled out of the garage after 5 mins running dropped of its own accord after staying up when switch turned off.
Then refused to lift and now comes up and wont go down !
MOT looming so may have to resort to removing relays after winding up by hand.
Also some good news changed the coolant temperature sensor as not idling correctly when cold and has totally transformed cold warm up etc
As usual any advice would be great

Hi Mate...Seems to be this months main feature...Sounds like a loose or dodgy connection...As always first check plug connectors condition, Normally they will be badly oxidised and the copper wire has probably gone black and is not as efficient...But thats another job!...So you will probably need to remove the lamp unit and separate the connector, Then clean with a good electrical cleaner/Lube and a small file, Getting inside the female pins if poss..gentle though..I invested in some needle files for this job...I also find it easier with the pod out although getting the armature off of the pivot inside the pod is a bit fiddly..Actually so is putting it back on as its rose jointed..Doable though...Trouble with the pods is that they are down for most people most of the year..They are also exposed to the elements if the car gets used in all weathers...Like me...smile

I actually operate my pods 2-3 times a month..Up & Down a few times..Then every month i remove the pod and clean connections..I then re-grease the bolts and any accessible moving parts..

You might be lucky that it might just be a fuse or a stuck relay....biggrin

Cheers...Ziga

PS: Even if they start working again wind them up for the MOT anyway...Cos you know what will happen...

I agree with Zig, if motor goes one way but not the other, and only on one pod, it's most probably a dodgy connection somewhere - there are the motor connectors on all wedges, and on my 2.8, there is a whole set behind the driver's side headlamp pod, which are a bugger to get at. Mine were green.....and I've cleaned them several times since, and had the pod refuse to work twice....
