Hi Peeps...Just wondered if anyone has ever had this problem...As most of you know i park mine outside and its covered with two covers..One being soft and fleece to not make the already crap paint even worst, The other is a Howlfrauds special...Now sometimes i have a fox that sleeps on top of the car which is not normally a problem but lately it has deposited some nasty business..Twice now i have gone out there only to be greeted by a stinking runny fox pat..(Like a cow pat but smaller)...right in the middle of the roof!.vomit..Needless to say its really peeing me off..I have looked at a variant of products but they all cause the mangey bastid to scent even more..One option i did think of was to wait up and shoot the bastid but that carries a 5K fine and a 6 month prison sentence...Im going to try a small battery powered radio in the spoiler of a night left on Radio 4 to try to bore it to death...Or potentially scare it away...Any suggestions welcome...Thanks....Ziga

Sorry ...No pics....

This......I had the same problem with cats on an old Audi cab roof I used to have......put a soaked rag in a small pot by each wheel tucked under so no rain gets in.......a week of doing that the cat got the message and never came back

This should not be a problem for you to solve, but a problem for the Council to provide a solution. Ring them up and tell them what has happened, and that you'll be sending in the valeting fees if nothing is done sharpish. That gives me an idea. There could be a gap in the market for an animal proof anti crap car covers. One with sharp spikes simillar to peogeon ones maybe.

There's no fine for actually killing them. That said the majority of the various methods such as poisoning are 'finable', Shooting with a shotgun is acceptable but that carries the obvious danger/illegality of using a shotgun within 50m of a public highway so unless you live in ZigaZagga Towers in it's own substantial grounds I guess that option is out as well? biggrin

Human urine works well for getting rid of both foxes and cats as well.

These guys might be able to help:

Thanks for the replies so far..I know that one problem is that the Wedge is so low at the front that the bugger doesn't have to struggle to get on it..I might try the Jeyes fluid..I have heard that human urine works but I'm not about to pee over my own car or ask anyone else to...

I did ask my friend who works for pest control and he offered to shoot it but it has to be killing livestock for that to happen.

@: Tony...You may have something there..You just reminded me of something that happened a few weeks ago involving a fox...TBC.....

I will ring the council to see if they can offer any info...

Cheers...Ziga

Buy a couple of mousetraps for a quid. Put them on the roof, but under the cover. When the fox jumps up, he/she will get a mighty fright when they go off, but shouldn't be hurt.

That should fix the problem.

Either that or they will get stuck on its paws and at least i will be able to hear the bugger..Shooting it wouldn't be out of the ordinary where i live...It is South London you know...But another will take its place...I have some horrendous aftershave that i got for christmas one year..Knowing my luck it will probably love the smell and bring all the other foxes round for a Foxfest...smile

Would't shooting them mean getting a new roof?

Not when its something like this...I will sting a bit and it will think twice about getting on my car again..

Cheaper than a new cover and much more fun...smile

The only safe and efficient way is to use an ultrasonic animal deterrent, works on cats, dogs and foxes..

Get some lion or tiger crap from your local zoo and leave it where you don't want the fox to go...

Btw Radio4 transfers to the World Service at night which is a jolly good listen and might encourage foxes.

I have a vision of Zig peeing out of his bedroom window on Mr Fox!

If that doesn't work - a bit like the mounsetrap idea, get a cheap mobile phone, set it on vibrate and max volume (maybe with the ringtone = a pack of hounds) and leave it under the cover near where he lies.

Then wait for Foxy and ring the phone when he has settled down to kip. Unless Me Fox actually answers it won't even cost you money!

Mmmm...I thought about lion poo but then i might end up with a bigger problem...Lions sitting on the roof of the Wedge...eek
That was also my thoughts as regards to Radio4....Next thing you know there will be a pipe and a pair of slippers on there..

Well i have filled up a spray bottle of my urine and will scent up later..Around the car of course and not on it..I would try that Adam but its very windy out there and you know what they say about whizzing in the wind....Or is that spitting...Anyway if that doesn't work then it will be the scatter gun approach...BB style......

It ain't a Mr Fox, it must be a Vixen biggrin (family ties and all that...)

You never cease to amaze me in attracting entertainment like this, but apparently there are 30,000 foxes in Greater London, so you would run into one at some stage, wouldn't you ?

I think an ultrasonic deterrent in the car could be the answer (or lion poo, or the lion proper....)

Hi Frank...Could well be a "Vixen"...In true TVR style its running a bit rich thats for sure...hurl

I did think of covering the bonnet in whoopee cushions but then when the fox treads on the cover it will st itself and thats what I'm trying to avoid...hehe
