Somethings not quite right, water pump ?, water pump pulley? or crank pulley ?
Anyone know if there is a different pump pulley before I get a spacer machined up ?
I've not tried the alternator yet as it will interesting to see which one that lines up with.

Itll be the new crank sensor toothed wheel ofsetting it out too much.

Just as easy to get a spacer (or two, wink ) made up for the water pump pulley.

The toothed wheel is mounted on the back of the pulley so it doesn't affect the position of the water / pump alternator belt. I wonder if it's due to the block / crank being from a Chimp but the pulley being a SD1 ??

See what it's like with the alternator in place, its difficult to tell but hopefully you on,ly need to shim the water pump pulley.

You can adjust the alternator one very easily with washers in the alternator mounts, if that's out too.

That trigger wheel does look the same depth as the difference in pulley's....If needed you can use spacers or preferably a machined plate that sits on the front of the pulley wheel mount..You might need longer bolts though....Definitely lock thread and nyloc.....smile

I've now dropped the alternator on and it lines up perfectly with the water pump so the problem is the crank pulley confused

Anyone know if another version of the v8 uses a shorter CRANK pulley? I notice rimmers offer all sorts of variations !

I reckon it will be far easier to offset the water pump pulley with 2mm spacer, and shift the alternator forward a tad.

Looks like the Alternator I took off was also the wrong one, the new one lines up with the crank pulley so I just need a 5mm spacer for the water pump and 3 longer screws - another job for the machine shop at work !

Don't forget a dab of new loktite on the screws they are some of the few that need it.

Definitely...I remember replacing a pulley wheel on Delilah and about 6 miles later i could hear an awful knocking noise and when i lifted the bonnet the pulley wheel was wobbling all over the place like a bit of rubber...Good job i stopped when i did...smile
