Looking for somebody in the Middlesbrough / North east area who would be willing to undertake some work on a much loved, but garaged for the last 5 years, Tasmin. This isn't an advert more of a plea for somebody with a passion for the TVR Tasmin marque to help get the old girl back on the road

I'm in Norton (though funnily enough I was working on an early 350i over near Nunthorpe earlier this evening)... what's up with yours?

Hi Ian

The car has stood for the best part of 5 years and prior to placing her on ice the gearbox was a little suspect (finding reverse was a challenge). The mechanic that has worked on all of my cars retired a couple of years ago and since then i've just kept her under blankets in the garage. Looking for somebody who can get her back on the road or alternatively will take her into a good home with a minimal investment. Ironically i'm not far from Nunthorpe (live in Newby)

Spooky: the 350i isn't actually in Nunthorpe but on a Lane beginning with T not far from you! The owner posts on here so I won't be more specific... anyway it's good to hear of other TVR Wedges in the Teesside area biggrin
The Ford gearbox isn't known for being difficult, so that surprises me. Could be something odd like a selector fork loose on its shaft, it's probably 15 years or more since I saw one in bits.
As you probably know, taking a Wedge gearbox out without also removing the engine is a bit of a nightmare. Some cars did have one of the chassis rails made un-boltable to help with that so you never know. Is the car a fixed-head or drop-head?
You're welcome to drop me an email (click on my username to get to my profile and there's a link) with a phone number and we could discuss further smile
