I should imagine this is what it has had...It certainly is a fine example of a 34 years old hand built British sports car..So how many "Press cars" were there?...It would be good to know the chassis number..Could it be the first DHC?

I know i "Whinged" about the scruffy 350i for 4K but this is an early Tasmin....And in the words of Oliver Winterbottom who we all know was the original designer of these cars..."These are the true Tasmins...Not those V8 thingy-ma-jigs"...hehe

Some of the stories that he told us were really interesting even though it took a few G&T's to loosen him up...The funniest thing i heard him say was when he was judging the concourse car comp at the fest a couple of years back and John Box stood in front of the one he was judging..He said.."Get out the way you silly old sod..And your still wearing those red trousers"..Funny thing was the following year when John came again he was wearing the same red trousers...biggrin....Unless he has about ten pairs...Bit like me with my black T-shirts...

Electrophoretic Coating

The Electrophoretic Coating (e-coat) process is widely used in the automotive and other industries for corrosion protection as it offers the ability to deposit a uniform coating over an entire component including those with bends, cavities or areas which would be hard to coat with a conventional powder coat or liquid spray painting process.
The Euro Quality Coatings e-coating plant is an automatic finishing facility with zinc phosphate pretreatment and using cathodic epoxy black paint. This process is also known as Electrocoating, Electropainting, E Coating, Electrophoretic Deposition (EPD), KTL, E coat, EP coating, Cathodic Dip Painting (CDP) and Electrodeposition.
The e-coat process can be used to produce a basic coating in its own right by giving excellent corrosion protection to components not requiring a more decorative finish. It can also be used in conjunction with a powder coated finish on components that need a higher degree of protection and a more robust and aesthetic finish.

It's not impossible to anodise steel but you wouldn't normally do it; anodising is more associated with alloys. Do they mean galvanised?

Hi Stu, i contacted the owner who replied that he is more than happy to help with any info he has on the car, he says the original reg was TVR 22. As that reg is a private one i dont know if you can just put a number plate like that straight on a car from the TVR factory, so i dont know if thats its first reg or just the one on it when he first got the tasmin but maybe you know about factory regs. Martin.
