For what it is worth, my 86 has no stainless or any other kind of shield (you can smell the fiberglass cooking before I lowered them a bit) or stainless mufflers. Grady

Thread resurrection time.

The original shop really wasn't very interested in working on my car so that ended that.

Had another one recommended to me so had this sorted this year instead. Details:

1. Bin everything from the manifolds back. Cat was shot anyway and all those curves to fit it in didn't help anything.
2. Left the manifolds alone so they still exit forward facing.
3. Custom run back from the manifolds in a true dual system. Leaving room to do those things like replace the oil filter, tranny oil, etc.
4. Two new Walker 17602 11" mufflers at the rear. It's a 2" exhaust system according to my tape measure.
5. Yes, we still know it's a TVR.
6. No, it doesn't sound like i have fart cans under there.
7. I can drive over the speed humps now without grounding.

Thanks for everyone's ideas. It sure helps.

I still haven't done anything to mine, so your set up maybe my solution. I was thinking about leaving the boxes under the seats and then straight piping out the back. The S series I think is done like this, although I think it has a single box. If you are able can you post a video clip of the noise?

I'll see what I can do about posting a video. There's a Sony video cam around here somewhere which should be better than an old iPhone. One of the biggest gains I now have is the increased ground clearance. But the sound is decent too.
