There was an older thread on here for upgrading the fiber optic lights to LED on the center console.

Can't seem to find the one that gives the detail so does anybody know what i need to achieve this?

Cheers.

Hi mate...I was talking about it last year and was thinking of upgrading the small bulb inside the unit..I managed to find a 10watt BA9s bayonet fitting but didn't manage to find an LED...Totally forgot about that..I will dig out the spare unit i have and see if i can match the small ,,,BA9s i think fitment..To an LED...There are so many to choose from though...

I thinks there are plenty BA9 LED fitments about now Mark but not sure sure it will improve things drastically by keeping the same fiber optic set up, if you do it though and it does improve let me know. I am probably only looking to get the gear together for this update a little later in the year, maybe even a winter upgrade along with refurb of the walnut, which reminds me, are the new dash board veneers still available anywhere?

I always think that, given how few switches there are on a Wedge, it's probably just as easy to memorise their positions as it is to fanny about stripping half the car to replace a bulb...

This is true mate but at my last MOT he was advising me that my fog light switches do not light up and as they are fitted with an illuminated area albeit by a 13 tentacled octopus...I have a spare to mess about with...smile

Doesn't your fog light have a light in the switch? The label doesn't have to light up, they wouldnstruggle to test for that.

My Tuscan has a brass button for both hazards and fog with no marking at all...can't be a requirement!

That looks a great mod for the illumination...I tried just replacing my speedo one the other day but got as far as undoing 5 of the 6 screws on my steering wheel that had only been out a few days earlier when the last one decides to burr...FFS..banghead...I will get it out but it means replacing them when they are not even a year old..My dash also kept dropping down but i didn't want to remove it pre-fest so i contorted under there and did the 8mm nut up on the passenger side..I couldn't even see the driver side one..Another job I'm putting off till later..rolleyes

Yes, got some of them LED's but when i came to look at doing the job i realized that it is slightly more awkward than i thought (mainly due to the fact that the plastic section thingy that holds the panel together needs some fixing)and put it to one side as not important at the moment.
The dash i would have been interested in but mine is 390 shape.

The LED's were really easy. I wired them all in parallel to the original plastic connector and, using a Phillips screwdriver, just opened out the hole in the plastic fibreoptic holder on each switch. Then, using a small blob of epoxy, fixed each led in place.
