Hi Peeps...This is really for those of you who are coming up on the Friday and want to join up for a meal...I have 20 people listed inc partners for the Friday night meal, I don't really want to post up on a public forum who will be away from their home so i will email you a number from 1-11.

Now the reason for this is that Martin who has looked after us the last couple of years at the Whitehorse has had to vacate due to new owners..He is also an amazing chef..He has been re-located to a nice venue with ample space which is only 7 miles from the chase...Here is the question...

I would rather eat his food knowing that its quality and cooked amazingly than risk new management at the Whitehorse...Yes its a stagger right next to the chase..But for me i don't mind getting us all on a mini-bus or doing the sensible thing of driving there and not drinking, Well maybe a half and then having a night cap at the bar when back at the chase..I will have to be up the crack of dawn anyway...(As long as she is okay with that) so I'm not fussed about getting bladdered.

Please let me know once you have received the email if you wish to either.

A: Travel 7 miles to eat wonderful food.
Or
B: Take a chance on the new owners at the Whitehorse.

The majority will win.

Thanks

Ziga

For me and Mrs its neither. We would have loved to have joined you all but I have to collect the Mrs from school then set off late afternoon. Then, we'll probably be joining the car park on the M25 on late Friday afternoon traffic, so we'll be arriving late. Because of this, I have already booked the hotel restaurant for a late evening meal. We will however be joining you for the Saturday evening meal, so please put us down for that Zig.

We have peeps staying at our place anyway so I don't mind posting up. I am easy if we go next door or get a minibus (a 10 seater could do 2 round trips) to whereever but I definiately aint driving. The horse got a 5* review from someone who looks like a real ale connoisseur on Google, in the last 2 months, and also good tripadvisor reviews in Feb and March - when did they move on?

According to the Alveston Village website, Martin took over there at the end of March.

We've got a cat-sitter looking after our place and mogs, and our preference is also not to drive on Friday night. The Chequers does look appealing for food, beer and proximity.

It would be nice if we can all have a meal together so if it means taking a stagger to the local then so be it..I need to know so that i can organise a block booking.

Mark, sorry but we can only stay the Saturday night so we are not there on the Friday for the meal. The brother in law and his partner are going to look after the kids at our house so again the house will be occupied all weekend. If I can get her out of the house before 9.00am I'll be pushing it so aiming to be over at the Ettington for around 11.00.

Cheers.

Mark I dont know now whether I can come to the fest at all now frown
Since I got back from Holland I have fked my neck up, I am just waiting to see a consultant but I think there is a fair chance I will need surgery to it. Even if I dont I cant drive at the minute because I cant feel my left hand.

Hi Peeps...Need your approval please...I have contacted the Chequers Inn as regards to a Friday night slot and all they have is 1 @ 6.30pm until 8.30pm that will accommodate 15-20 people albeit on scattered tables.

Or
1 @ 7.30pm until 9pm but will only accommodate 12-13 people.

Even though we can only sit and eat for two hours we can still stick around for booze and bullshyte at the bar...And its less than the Whitehorse as far as staggering goes. smile
We will have a set menu so i will post up and need to know what people would like..We can't hang about on this one...Cheers...Ziga

Mark, I think the 7.30 sitting would be preferable. Can you post up the menu please?

Hi Dom...Only at the earlier seating can they push tables together as they have another party booked for 8.30pm..The 7.30pm onwards will be small groups of people..I will ask if they can be within an area together ..And that way we can be scattered together..Which doesn't make any sense at all....laugh

What a silly question...Does the pub have a garden made of beer...Whatever next..Actually they do...And although they do they don't serve food outside but do inside and have to walk past the doors that lead outside to bring the food to us......rolleyes
Bit like the argument i had a Maccydee one morning..I wanted a cheeseburger...They said it was too early and don't do cheeseburgers that early..So asked if they serve hamburgers...They said yes..I then asked if they had any cheese..They said yes..So i asked for a hamburger with a side order of cheese..They said they don't do cheeseburgers that time of the morning...I said "IT'S A fkING HAMBURGER WITH A CHEESE SLICE ON THE fkING SIDE"..By this time a massive que was building up and my mate was moaning that we will be late for work so i opted for a bacon roll...Which i hasten to add was mouldy..Filthfood..Didn't eat that shyte ever again...

Errr...Where was i...Oh yeah..."Don't order a fking hamburger with cheese on the side if you want a fking cheeseburger..Order a mouldy bacon roll"!....laugh

Hi Peeps..Well so much for the Chequers..I had agreed to let them know by Saturday..Which is tomorrow as to a definite booking for the Friday night meal..I just rang up to book it and now they are saying that some of the tables have been booked out already...FFS...Cheers...

Im looking into alternatives and might have secured something within walking distance of the chase..Wont know until Monday though....
