Hi Peeps...Well what can i say about this years BBWF....Bloody awesome..Finally met Howard and the beautiful White elephant..Wow what a Wedge..Had fantastic weather so now have the brown gauntlets and a red indian head piece..I thought i had a white T-shirt on earlier in the shower..hehe

Im seriously chuffed to bits with the turnout of stunning Wedges...Griffs..Tuscan..Chimaera's..T350..Taimar..A very nice S..And i counted 3 Sagaris..Then there was the Holden Monaro and the twin turbo Noble..A fantastic assortment of rare and HP beasts.yes

It was also a pleasure to be in the company of the man who designed the car we celebrated this weekend..Oliver Winterbottom...thumbup

I do have to apologise and may get mocked for this but personally although i was embarrassed thought everything was superb.

So firstly let me apologise for not being able to have the BHP shootout even though its the busiest i have seen the dyno from the last 5 fest's..A considerable amount of Wedges went for it..Good on you lads...Also the DB challenge didn't take place...The concourse and scruffy wedge award never happened..However i think we can resolve some of them on here..

BHP shootout
The dyno was so busy they forgot to write down the figures however all of you who went on it should have your printout so if you can post it up then we can see who won that...Or if you prefer just send me your reg and i will ask Gary for your numbers as he keeps a record of them.

Concourse Wedge

The concourse car..Well i would of said the elephant but Howard forgot to clean her after his long drive down..Some of it wet!...Personally i thought it should of gone to David Bruce for his stunning in the flesh 350i FHC..You certainly cleaned it more than i have ever seen anyone clean a car and that in itself deserves a medal..So if i were able to vote i think it would be there..If you agree then we shall award him the Bling award.

Rat Wedge

Well it pains me to say this but i think Martin in his SEAC 420 should get this..Although this Wedge has a limited but functional interior Martin is a very practical fella and it makes sense how he goes about restoring such a rare beast..However he did win it last year ..And at a previous fest so this would be his third time..But if he is happy to accept and you are happy to award it then so shall it be....

DB challenge

scratchchin....I thought maybe do this one over the forum by people recording their Wedge and then i can use the db meter on the video to see who is the loudest...But i think i would have to equate the db level by a scientific mathematical measurement that represents the total pick up volume of the recoding device of each entered video..And then...Oh bugger it..You are all "Noisy gits"..Well done...clap

Picnic by the pond...I think the ducks missed that one..

I did design and print out programmes for the day but 60 copies were not enough and i lost track of it all as i had to re-write it so many times due to people unfortunately being unable to come..It would of been helpful if somebody had come up at the printed time on the programme and reminded me but obviously you were enjoying the event that much that time over took us...cool

Miles travelled

1st David Bruce (db800 )= 375.4
2nd Colin Davies (Taffo) = 172
3rd Steve Jones ( Stevo) = 140

Wedge personality

This year i decided to actually make the award..However after a disastrous casting attempt by me..( its been a long time) i nearly didn't get it done but with the help of my good friend Chris aka Jack Valiant everything worked out superbly..Thanks Chris... I would of got it finished had i started it earlier and had more casting mediums..banghead

The RTV rubber took two attempts and there were some air bubbles in the mix which came out in the casting..

Ideally this would be a plaster cast so that any imperfections can be smoothed out and then a re-cast is taken..Unfortunately time was not on my side so i attempted to cast it straight away in cold cast metal....uh-oh bad idea man..

However the the award got finished just in the nick of time on Friday morning!..

Here it is:

Now I'm pleased to announce that Keith Knight aka KKson was awarded this for all the enthusiasm he has shown since joining the Wedge fraternity and help he has given to others..

The voting result was sent to a separate judge and the nominations were as follows..

Keith Knight = 5
Jim Davie = 4
Glan Wilson = 3
Me = 5....Thanks again but i can't keep winning it..Ill have nowhere to put them all..biggrin

So well done to Keith for coming first...clap

This year the plan was to help SMA.UK again and maybe a smaller donation to the Midland air museum..

As i walked back to the welcome gazebo i saw a beautiful blued eyed blonde haired angel standing there waiting for me..At first i thought the weather gods had seen pity on me and returned a virgin and gave me good weather anyway..Pah...I should be so lucky..It was Annabelle from SMA..What a lovely person she was..She also showed a lot of interest in the Wedges and i educated her accordingly..She then surprised a couple of guys with her knowledge that she had learnt and TBH i was very impressed...Bless.

So now we come to the charity...This year we managed to raise £720...Okay its half of what we raised last year but bloody hell its still amazing..It just shows how kind all of you really are..

The money we gave them last year bought loads of sensory packs for the children suffering this horrendous disorder..Poor little souls..So again we were able to help relieve some of this suffering..Thank you...clap

This brings the total of the BBWF fund to £844.74...It would of been more but Olivers room was paid for and i had to buy a gazebo and awards..Ink and paper and the casting resin and solid walnut french polished base...Which was only £10 from a furniture restorer friend...

Now how do we do this...£500 to SMA...£200 to MAM and retain £144.74 for next years BBWF?...I will as always post up the thank you letters and pics of the group photo..Which will also appear in Sprint magazine.

I can take orders for Polo shirts & caps and post out to you if you would like, Not sure what the postage will be but will find out.. ..Unfortunately no mugs are left over..

So i would now like to thank:

TVR parts ltd for sponsoring the FREE mugs.
PCP Printers MD Richard Lee for printing the Mugs
North London Dyno
Auto valet direct
Principal Hayley events organiser Nicola Moseley and Principal Hayley staff Imran & Chris for sorting the Saturday night meal...And Jack for lugging all the stuff back and forth.
SMA.UK rep Annabelle
Diane James of Midland Air Museum
John Clancy for filming more parts for the DVD
Martin the chef at the Ferry in Galveston for providing us with a fantastic Friday night meal.
TVRCC for providing the PLI & MSA exemption certificate.
Oliver Winterbottom
Jack Valiant for helping me out of a pickle...
Sireatalot for his help on the days leading up to the event..And then on the day.
Maggie Gotts for helping with the auction
Banana moon & Workwear express for the Shirts & Caps
Mario of SEARS furniture restoration.

And finally all of you who made the effort to support this years Wedgefest with Griff guest's and thank you for donating items for the raffle and auction...

The cycle group who were there the same time as us and although they parked in our spaces they were raising money for the NSPCC so i hope all the bean salads and cabbage paid off..I think one guy ate too much and was going so fast he ditched it and broke his leg..GWS.

So onwards and upwards...Next year will see a different style of BBWF but the DNA will remain..Unfortunately we are unable to secure the chase for next year and possibly the year after but do not fear as i have some options that might be very enjoyable indeed....

So Bless you all for you kindness and commitment and i look forward to another great weekend next year...

Cheers my friends...Ziga

It looked a great event, well done for running it, I know how hard it is. I had a wander around and had a chat with a few faces I remembered. Oh, I was one of those damn cyclists you booed wink Hope we didn't cause too much trouble!

Hi mate..Well we were a bit peeved as the cycling team were parking in our spaces on the Saturday morning even though they were made fully aware of us two months before the event as we were of them and if we had not sorted it out in the morning then we would not of been able to of had our event...I actually re-planned the runout and changed where i was sending people so as not to clash with you guys so you can imagine i was a little bit peed off! ..

Also my breakfast was disturbed and i had to leave 2 rashers of bacon..1 x nobble of sausage..1 x hard fried egg..around 7 and a bit mushrooms..Approximately 80 baked beans, With juice and nearly a half munched toasted piece of Mr Wheaties brown country bloomer...Oh and half a pot of tea!...Not good when you are diabetic.

If you didn't know what was happening and you walked into the breakfast area and saw my plate you would of thought to yourself.."Blimey...Looks like they had to leave in a hurry"...

One of you guys had left a people carrier with a protruding cycle rack..It was sticking out facing the hotel and was a good 3 feet over the parking space of where it was and had NO warning triangle...In fact I'm waiting for a reply from my solicitor as regards to an injury caused by this said item...To me..I was running passed it to catch up with some of the guys who had parked and were almost leaving..I just happen to run a bit weird...I always have and always will...Anyhow i smashed into it causing me a cut lip and chipped tooth..I was also incapacitated through being knocked semi-unconscious for a few seconds..I thought i had left the bedroom curtains open when i came round..Although the sky bit freaked me out....

So as you can see i was starved..Sworn at...Smashed in the face by an angry gnome... Knocked un-conscious and traumatised by the thought that the hotel had been hit by a tornado that night and i was lying in the rubble...

Luckily a fellow Wedger was nearby and caught the incident on camera...He is also my main witness.....

However....The sun was shinning and we had just about enough space for all the cars...We had ice cold water free on tap..Beer would of been better but hey ho..There was musical cars..(If you string the dynos together)...Albeit a bit menacing and gothic..Some stunning cars and great people...We were also raising money for kids...So all in all we had a blinda..smile

Sorry about the booing i have R.A.S which is reversed appreciation syndrome..I once got arrested at a national front march for cheering at everything the speaker was saying but the police let me go when they realised it was me who was throwing rotten tomatoes at him...Must of been weird for him..Having someone cheering you while they are throwing rotten fruit at ya...hehe

On a more serious note...Well done to all of you for raising money for needy causes in a way i certainly couldn't of...clap

One of your guys did come and apologise the next morning so no hard fillings..thumbup

Cheers...Ziga

I consider it a privilege to win the 'Rat Car' award (again)!

Well done for organising such a fabulous event... and hats off to whoever penned the FHC image on the mugs and programme, I thought that was great.

Firstly can I thank you all for the award of Wedge personality of the year. The trophy is utterly superb however I do feel embarrassed about receiving it as there are many others on the forum that contribute way more both technically and with physical help to Wedgers in distress, plus of course there's Mark who goes above and beyond the call of duty with his input into the Wedge forums and his dedication in organising the BBWF. I truly don't feel worthy but I thank you all anyway.

Re the split of the money £200 to the Midland Air Museum sounds a little high as a percentage against the total charity amount raised. We did pay an entrance fee (although obviously reduced) and most of us bought food and drink as well as quadrupling the attendance figures for the day. I'm guessing that they probably had £250 income from us. My view is £150 max or maybe £100. What do others think?

Power figure for my RR session was disappointing. Last year peak power was 185.5 bhp. Despite refurbished injectors and new rising rate regulator, as well as a full service, peak power was down to 182.9 bhp however at lower revs power was up and torque was 15 lbft more at 3000rpm. Not the weakest power figures but way near the bottom. Cheers.

I think I'll claim the award for lowest BHP - 173.2. But on the upside I was pleased that the old girl completed the runs without depositing her guts all over the floor.
In my defence, I'd also like to claim the highest mileage 350i - 133,815 mls.

Thanks Martin..So the rat Wedge award goes to The Hatter...Well done mate..clap...The overall FHC design was drawn by a fellow Wedger who gets a FREE polo shirt & Cap for his work and the mugs were done by a friend of Trickies and i did the programmes

Keith: Thats a healthy 350i figure...Mine was 184 bhp when i had mine on the rollers at AMD a while back...But it was over fuelling enough to fail an MOT...So now its 182 and 38psi at WOT....I wouldn't worry too much as timing..plug leads..Spark plugs and even the heat of the day can attribute to the readings...I would have torque over bhp any day..I think that mine has good smooth power...I can drive her hard and have a smooth climb to near limiter with no hesitation or intermittent faults..She will also burble along in 4th at 30 mph....And its just as satisfying as it is at 70mph.

And as far as the award goes its votes that maketh the winner..Accept it and relish it mate...Next year its going to be a bungee jump into a pit of rotten fish and who ever comes up smelling of roses is the winner...smile

Bradderz:If thats on the original cam then its pretty good really..Might need a new one in a couple of years but will be well worth it..That and the clutch is my biggest worry but in fairness once a new cam goes in and the right oil is used then its good for another 100,000 miles...

Number 7: Thanks mate...I might start a separate post as regards to the BHP shootout....

Thanks again chaps....Ziga
