Hi Peeps...I thought it better if i started a new post for this...So here we have the figures for the dyno...Please can you let me know what you got...It might seem unfair that a 4.3 BV is going up against a standard 350i but one year a 280i beat all the V8's and walked away with the highest bhp of the day...Also its a bit of fun...The main factor in all of this is that you know you have a healthy Wedge.
In fairness we will have an award for the Griffs as well..After all they were our guests..

Wedges
1. Number 7 4.3BV = 288.2hp
2. Matt-man 400SE = 244hp
3. GOG440 350i = 191.7hp
4. Taffo 350i = 190.3hp
5. gmw9666 350i = 190.2hp
6. KKson = 350i 182.9hp
7. Bradderztvr 350i = 173.2hp
8. Jon 280i = 126.4hp

Griffs
Billynobrakes modded 500 = 301hp

Chimaera
macdeb Chimaera = 470hp

Non-TVR

R8VXF Monaro VXR8 = 553hp
Maston BMW 530D M Sport = 258hp
Malcolm Audi A2 ( 1.8 Turbo ) = 220hp

My Griff 500 Reg No. V8 GRN Dyno results was 301BHP and 300lb/ft of torque

It would have been more but the fuelling is a bit of a mess, they said it needs a re-map to get it sorted and I have already spoken Dan Taylor and he said because it has an ACT triple plenum with a Mark Adams chip I will need to get it to Mark Adams he uses TVR Powers rolling road so I will get it booked in shortly

Probably a bit cheeky to include my result as it is not a TVR. Though would be cool to see someone drop an LSA into a TVR. For the record it was 553bhp, IAT was rather high causing it to overfuel.

My 350i got a respectable 190.3hp but mine was under fueling, so a new adjustable fuel regulator is on order, the boys said I might get another 15/20bhp once done, which would be nicecool

I fear I will be at the bottom of the list, with 126.4 from my 280i

That goes through everyones mind at some point..I was expecting mine to pop when i put mine on a AMD dyno a while back, Especially when a cloud of black smoke came out...My stomach sunk but it was just overfuelling....

Hi mate...Do you know what yours was before you had the plenum and chip fitted, My friend has a 5.0ltr HC Griff engine in his Wedge and is struggling to get it over the 300bhp barrier..Its thought that the headers are the telling factor..Definitely get it re-mapped..You might just be surprised..Sometimes there is a gradual decrease in power that we get used to and not always notice..Until a re-map or tune..smile

Quote from Topcats:
Topcats Racing specialise in Chevrolet Corvette LS engine cars too and have installed 22 LS7 and LS3 engines into TVR’s as of 2014 as well as installing the first LS9 supercharged engine in the UK producing over 750BHP.

Hi mate..I think the heat of the day played havoc with everyones readings..Hot intake temps are not good for any engine and especially high performance...There are a wide variety of ways to cool air coming in..Water cooling..Dry ice..Liquid nitrogen..Dry NOS..Air compressors but they all have governing factor over power sap..Energy losses and cost..A good IAT whilst moving is the main factor and can be effectively improved at a low cost..i:e Correctly placed air intake and heat shielded/Lagged or ceramic coated parts..Static IAT are obviously much less cost effective to try to solve and frankly not really needed..Some years back i found a kit that consisted of a cylinder which had a spiral core and was placed in between the air filter & AFM or AFM & Plenum...This was injected with refrigerant and connected to WOT..A significant improvement but cost around £600 without the Co2..Then you need somewhere to fit the bottle...Sometimes we struggle to improve stuff that doesn't need to be as the manufacturers of these cars spend millions in production research and cover these points immensely..A main pointer is to make sure your fuelling maps are current and in order the rest is down to the right foot...All that said i would be well chuffed with 553bhp..nuts

Hi mate..I think this is the main factor with solid state FPR..Its much better to have a rising rate FPR..But do some research first..Malpassi are okay but have a large diaphragm that can fail after a couple of years..I have heard bad things about the FSE boost valves..I have a sytec adjustable FPR and seems to be the better option..I also leave my gauge on it as its a very good diagnostic tool..This is not recommended with all gauges..Mine is a glycerin filled type but theses can dry out over time but to replace are only £10-15...You need 2psi more..;)

Jon..Have you had the valve clearances checked..A lot of time with the V6 cologne people set them too tight and you can easily loose 20+ bhp..Also what is your timing set to..I used to use around 9.5 degrees when using 97ron...When mine was set correctly i had 148bhp instead of 107 that time at the fest..I cried all night that year..The Sprintex took her up to 200bhp and 207ftlb torque..Not bad for a 30 year old boat anchor...ears

Nope, not had the valve clearances checked, and also not got a clue what the timing is set at either! It was also running on Morrisons finest 95 Unleaded on Saturday as well. Fuelling was also a bit all over the place. The challenge is now to see what I can get it up to next year!

Definitely get the valve clearances checked mate..The static timing is around 12 degrees but running it on 95ron could do with a couple of degrees lower..I always used to use 97+ Both Delilah & Poppy hate 95ron..More often than not the fuel is a cheap shyte grade and can sometimes be contaminated with water..There was a garage near me that got shutdown because of it..Even though they are back up and running i wouldn't use them if it was 50p a litre of fuel....Well maybe...

I bought the Griff with the plenum and chip fitted and do not know what BHP it was before they was fitted, plus I have just had a standard rebuild by TVR power, I will get her booked in for a re-map and get back to you with the results

There you go the dyno readout and the guy said that the fuel was too rich at the bottom end and it dropped off at the top end that is why the line falls away sharp, he said if I show it to the people who look after my Griff they will know what it means, I have shown it to Dan Taylor of Taylor TVR he said it needs to go to Mark Adams so he can map it on a rolling road and by looking at the results possibly bigger injectors, more expense eek

And the dodgy AFR reading from having the sensor on the bypass side of the exhaust so no airflow till the higher RPMs!

Respect, 494 ft/lb torque on standard oil burner, impressed.
One of the reasons I just had to turbo mine as could no longer suffer the embarrassment of having one up me chuff on a motorway.
[470hp - 550ft/lb Chimaera] wink
doesn't do anywhere near 40 mpg though getmecoat

350i no idea what has been done to the engine in the past up until it got the heads skimmed a few weeks ago

191.7 bhp and 215lbft and very unusually (listening to people on the day) my fuelling was pretty much spot on, slightly overfuelling at the top end (but they told me thats the safest way)

Photo of my dyno sheet and a link to the video once I remember to get the camera out of the car lol
