I have never heard of this person but it appears that Labour have chosen a completely unelectable radical leftist chap to lead their party. Anyone have any idea why they've done this?
Because it worked really well with Michael Foot And I say that as someone who has a huge amount of respect for Michael Foot as a politician but he was about 20 years too late as the right (!) leader for the Labour party and time hasn’t stood still ....

He hasn't won anything yet, the vote hasn't happened.
Aha. Right. My mistake. Shouldn't they be electing the Hunt chap? I've never heard of him either, but he certainly looks like the type of person people vote for (which is sort of how it works, isn't it?)
This is probably something that Labour need to do. All three of the "Non-Corbyns" are wishy-washy Islington lefties who are tainted by new Labour, Brown, and Red Ed. They can't win the country although they might win the leadership. No lessons would be learned.
Corbyn can't win the country either, but a couple of years of his leadership, possibly followed by a terrible election result, would convince the national party that they need to cut out the dead wood, and move back to the centre.

This is spot on ... Labour need to do this whilst they look for their next Tony B. There isn’t an obvious candidate now so the Conservatives will win the next election (and Boris is no less bokers than Jeremy Corbyn) and the new Tony B will get a few years to settle in and set out his populist agenda...Corbyn can't win the country either, but a couple of years of his leadership, possibly followed by a terrible election result, would convince the national party that they need to cut out the dead wood, and move back to the centre.
It doesn’t really matter - we’ll get a slightly right of centre government like we have done for years ...

Is it just me or is he more convincing than any of the other 4 that are left standing?
Convincing? Or just a pretty boy churning out the same old watered-down Marxist guff?I think the reality is he's keeping his powder dry until after Labour's inevitable defeat in 5 years time.

Corbyn is a proper socialist, and doesn't say things because a focus group said he should. That should be applauded, even if his policies are mad.
