Quick update. Work is well underway at the wonderful Torqueflyte here in Ballygowan. Greg has cleaned and treated the chassis (which is in great nick), replaced the broken rear window, replaced fuel pipes, replaced heating system pipes, completely disassembled the suspension for full refurb and fixed the dodgy fuel gauge. Weird noise suspected to be gearbox may have been worn CV joints- fingers crossed:

Looking good mate...I notice near the front crossmember there is what looks like a badly placed trolley jack imprint on the tubes?..Make sure you have a real good look around that as the dents look a bit severe...Might be nothing but worth checking....Ziga

Yes well spotted! Greg mentioned it but said it was an area he focused on to make sure it was sound.

Should be on the road in a week or so! Bring the noise..

clap...I bet it is loud with no centre box.....Looks a nice useable car, The rumbling could be a wheel bearing..Front or rear as the sound can transfer, The front wheel bearings are meant to have a small amount of play in them..Not sure what it is but definitely do not have them tightened right up...They may need some grease, I would also check the rear N/S hub nut to make sure that is as tight as it needs to be..200+ ftlb torque..Around 180 for re-used nuts...

Could be worn UJ's but you would see the play...And TBH i and a couple of other people have had a stone stuck between the front downpipe and chassis rail and i tell you what its like the whole car vibrates...One of those that makes you sweat and then laugh when you find it...Anyway i hope its nothing too serious but its all fixable and definitely worth it...Enjoy...Ziga

Cheers Zig. It's a funny rumble because it's only there on lift off. I'll check up on your suggestions if the universal joint repairs don't solve it

Quick question. The air filter and induction hose look pretty rubbish:

ACT Performance have a filter and a hose which look suitable:

http://www.actproducts.co.uk/product/ti011-kn-filt...
http://www.actproducts.co.uk/product/ti009-tvr-v8-...

Are these correct, and where it states- "This is a standard 90 elbow, it doesn’t have an offset / twist in the bend, so might be necessary to tilt the AFM up at the back" -is this straightforward enough?

Thanks.

Yes both those are right, as you have a flapper system.
It's a common mod, and quite easy to do.

I believe Tim now has the correct hose..(Black only) so you won't need to do the mod...Im also thinking of changing mine to one a its been realised that the soft stuff can deform under suction...I would check all the hoses..Flame trap...N/S rocker breather and housing..And inspect the fuel hoses because if they haven't been changed recently then they WILL erupt with the new fuels...Also check the steering belts for cracks...

A word of caution if you do decide to remove the plenum to fit new fuel rail hoses...Make sure you use good quality fuel clips....Ziga

I have 2 shorter 90 deg bends to help with the angle and drop on my fhc with a centre join and this lets you keep the air meter bolted where it is on the wing
For some reason i can not load picture will try again

Cheers fellas. So the part I have just ordered from ACT (in black) should be a neater fit zig? By the way my tame TVR specialist has replaced loads of hosing in the engine bay and under the car so I hope that is all taken care of.

That alternative solution in db's picture is tidy. Might have to consider that if the ACT part is awkward.

Hi mate...They should fit as i believe this was from ACT...However these are a bit soft hence him having reinforced ones made..

I was contemplating a 90 degree stainless steel elbow and some lengths of 70mm silicone....

That looks great! Part-metal may be good in theory, but I suppose may not be quite as efficient and also might add a slight amount of clutter?
