The German Wedge meet ....
Discussion
Myself and Stewart (mk1fan) decided to take up up the offer to visit our fellow Wedgers in Northern Germany over last weekend. 3 key reasons really .... weather was going to be good .... chance to stretch the legs of the Sag and the Gredge on the autobahn .... why not!
So after many emails and calls to Germany to Olaf and Bernd the plans were set. Just a short drive then:
So we met early at "Stop 24" services on the M20 filled up and headed for the EuroTunnel.
Roof down check ..... fluids check ...... sun glasses check ..... hit it!
So France - Belgium - Holland - Germany was soon eaten up by the cars only needing industial amounts of fuel! :-)
Arrived at the meet point with Olaf and Bernd after nearly 8 hours of driving just short of the Teutoburger Wald very tired and with a red head!! We were then greeted and headed off to a traditional meal with some of the guys and then found our hotels.
In the morning (Sat) we headed off to Melle to the Auto Museum to wait for every one to arrive ... whoa! they just kept arriving from all over Germany and the Netherlands:
26 cars later it was time to move out for a hoon round the forests and hills of the Teutoburger Wald....all I can say is what a beautifull area.. quiet A and B roads just what TVR's are for!!
200 kms later it was time for a move of location and another great meal with the guys and of course the manditory beers.
We said our farewells to every one and thanked them for their hospitality as we were leaving for home in the morning
Another 480 miles across Europe to make the train home then followed. What a great trip, nice people with new friends made .. only spoiled by immigrants at the Euro Port and train stopped in the Tunnel with substantial delays to get on the train. We finally arrived home just before 10 pm :-(
Loads of photos but cannot get them to upload due to file size but I am sure Stewart will have some to add.
Both cars ran faultlessly apart from a minor electrical issue with the Sag (I will let Stewart update on that!) after 1100 miles over 3 days... TVR unrealiable .... I think not!

Hi Chris,
glad to hear that you and Steward arrived well at home. It's been a great weekend and we had a lot of fun with our "unreliable" cars. Here are some comments from the german TVR -Forum :

If I can manage it I will come to your wedge fest next year. This must be repeated!
Many thanks that you both made this long way to Germany, it's been a pleasure to meet you.
Cheers
Bernd

Overall a great weekend. Good company, good cars, good weather and good food. So, by cumulative effect, excellent mini break.
Got loads of photos so will post a few choice ones shortly.
Chris, do you remember those three custom cars around Antwerp? Well, we passed one of them on the M20.
The coffee and cake break at Frank's was very welcome. Anyone would be mistaken for thinking TVR owners are nice????
Got the TVRCC Surrey Region meet on Thursday, trackday on the 17th then the S-Club Tour on the 19th.
As for Suni's issue. Well, Sunday morning the dash decided not to work. Sparked into life after 200-miles. I'll be checking the earths, connections and fuses over the next few weeks.

Hi Graham - You will have enjoyed the motorway field sports with the Police and the immigrants then ... not what you want to run into after a 7 hour drive across Europe!
The car parking was a nightmare once you got in, and the booking computers could not keep up with all the cars trying to check in late for the crossing due to the delays outside!
Had to chuckle when I received a email from EuroTunnel explaining the issues on the day and hoping we would still use them in the future!
