Checking the lights etc for the MoT today and the hazards only worked on one side.

Odd I thought - indicators are fine on the duff side.

So I switched the hazard switch about 20 times - mow all working great! Nust have been a bit of tarnish buildup.

Just goes to show how reliable TVR's are - never have to use the switch except once a year!!!

Mmmm...Cleaning the switches....Its a time consuming fiddly job but well worth doing...Flicking them up and down like that could potentially break them...smile

Actually went OK - only 4 fails all fairly minor jobs, nothing dangerous, so a little fettling at the weekend should sort those out.

- Split gaiter
- Minor centre box leak
- ARB bracket
- HC too high (2000 ppm)

Some of the advisories from last year went away all on their own... - if it ain't broke...

I found most switches now due to age will be tarnished, its worth removing them all one by one and giving a clean with a mini wire brush, and then adding some contact grease this will stop the contacts tarnishing again, plus will stop any arc's, if you have to wiggle any of your switches to make then work or they are intermittent this will 99% of the time fix this. they are quite simple to dismantle. but it's worth using tipex or similar to mark the parts so they go back the same way round.

Much easier to wiggle 20 times and have it working than remove them and risk damaging the securing tabs etc. Any switch that can't take 20 operations isn't worth its salt anyway.

Anyhoo the fettling obviously worked (including upping the idle rpm to 1200) so job's a good'un, and another 368 days motoring to go!

Enjoy! My 350i is dead at the moment. Spent the evening checking resistances across sensors - nothing showing untoward. Swapped the coil again (third) out of pure curiosity. Seems to be running okay in the garage but getting a bit too late to annoy the neighbours and the kids after their first day at high school. Will continue playing tomorrow night. CTS resistance showed all okay. Also have a spare one which showed pretty much the same resistance.
