The only petrol cap that I have heard fits some or most V8 Wedges is from a classic Norton motorbike and is still available for around 50 sovs. The idea of converting to fill from the boot appeals to me. I'd probably leave the outer cap and pipe in place, leading into a dirty used can of engine oil so as if anyone siphons it out, they'll get a shock. biggrin

rofl...rofl...rofl...rofl...I nearly spat tea everywhere...

The caps were made by "Ceandess"...They were becoming scarce for Norton and Triumph so i believe they may be making some new ones...

I can think of a better fluid than engine oil (and I make more of it...)

Flap over.....had a slight leak at the petrol pump. More scary though was the fuel hose bought on gbay that began to disintegrate spraying fuel everywhere in the engine bay after only a year!!!. A quick change to injection hose sorted the problem...

Look what I bought & Fitted smile

Had it in the shed for years ...

looking at it, there is a groove that the lip of the fuel filler sits in and the 4x screws locate and grip. the cap then just fits in and locks over.

What car is that for originally? I've been trying to get a locking device for years.

I have managed to locate something similar from India. It has an adaptor that screws onto the filler neck. It states that it will fit all filler pipes with diameter 60mm. I need to measure this but the Wedge is not here at the minute, unless someone knows off hand. It's only 15 pounds including delivery so it won't break the bank.

Mark, thanks for giving me the size of yours, (the filler neck size) that is.
They could be different sizes as I'm sure a Wedge I used to own had a different filler neck shape. I guess they fitted what was available.
The item I'm referring to is on the Bay item No. 141431598748.
It says it's for Austin's etc. but is also universal. However it mentions 60cm neck so we have to make sure it will fit before ordering. It's not a lot of money though compared to ones available in the past such a Ceandes etc.

I have today measured the filler neck on my 400SE and it is exactly 60mm. It looks like this locking cap and it's adaptor might fit. I am thinking of ordering one. It will be coming over from India, so could take a few weeks. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.
