The heating in my 400 if rubbish. Has anyone taken the dash out and replaced the lot with something that actually works?

Well I made my own and built the existing matrix into it after soldering up a cracked joint. Built it from 6mm polycarbonate following the sizes of the original but added sweeps and bends inside with plumbing waste fittings to aid air flow. Also gave the box a removable front so as the matrix could be extracted without removing or destroying the thing, was great fun making it and it seems to work,

Andy what year is your 400?

My heater has always been good, although in December/January I cheat a bit by blocking up the passenger side air hose. Mine is a G reg.

Adam

Its a 1988. I did find quite a bit on here yesterday after posting this, and a straight swap over to something newer does not seem viable. I think I will pull out the existing box over the winder and see what I can do with that.

I got the measurements from someone who was working on their matrix and figured out that a small, generic unit from Vintage Air would fit. Which would provide A/C, Heat and Demisting services. Some day.... Grady
