Well it's that time of year and guessing like me we are starting on our jobs to do lists while its peeing it down outside?

So mine is a short but realistic list:

  • Replace the front brake rotors with new vented and grooved discs plus some decent Ferrodo pads to suit the 4 pot AP's

  • New leather gators for the handbrake and gear lever care of the Zigmeister
  • New carpets and seats out to fix sticking adjuster
  • Mini service
Should keep me out of mischief!

Zig the pads are only now made to order for the AP callipers so a wait for them and a bit more pricey but you get what you pay for yes

Ill be doing a few things

rebuild rear diff set up with new discs pads refurbed calipers in shiny blue, plugging it all back into the carrier and bolting it into the chassis
re fitting all new bushing and rose joints to the rear and then fitting shocks springs and trailing arm pins back onto the chassis
fitting new engine and rebuilt gearbox along with new bushes, AP clutch, new hydraulics and pipes
complete new brake system including pipes
renewing all fuel pipes with cunifer and rubber and renewing filter/pump set up.
stick the wheels on and roll it about a bit making broom broom noises
fitting body shell back onto the shiny chassis
cutting, clearing and tidying all wiring under the bonnet
doing the same to the interior under the dash to remove 3 alarm systems prior to complete new interior from Dave the trimmer
sending the car off to paint, including new style rear and front bumpers and SEAC spoiler
refitting doors, bumpers, spoilers etc once back from paint

cooking crimbo dinner for 14 people

I'll be fitting new bushes all round the rear, redo the ignition (new dizzy coil plugs timing etc) set up, check the tappets, valve clearance, 4 wheel alignment camber and toe, and hopefully fix the darned pods!
Plus clutch and timing belt on the hairdressing car.
And a full overhaul of the family taxi to try and get another 10k out of it, or else my V8 thoughts will be put on hold.

350i doesn't need much:
1. Swap out dissy with known good one. After market one still pinks under acceleration as counterweights are just not right.
2. Replace radiator bottom hose.
3. Replace veneer on glove box.

390SE:
1. Get it on a RR and properly set up. Still waiting for Mark Adams to get back to me.
2. Fix gearbox output shaft oil seal and diff nose seal as both are pouring oil all over the floor.
3. Strip front 4 pot calipers and rebuild and then fit Mintex 1144's.
4. Systematically check and torque each and every suspension bolt as the vast majority are only hand tight!
5. Refix trim along near side window post.
6. Investigate why heater doesn't work.
7. Remove rear SEAC style spoiler and drill out and re-tap broken stud.
8. Fit new aerial as stupid SEAC spoiler has broken the existing one.

For my winter project I'll turn on the heater fan. Job done. ;^) Oooh - nippy today - also stuff a rag up the passenger side heater vent - that's better. Proper job ;^)

The winter air is better for the blower anyhow.

Best get 2 done before rolling road, as they may not let it on if it's leaking.

Also good idea to rebuild calipers but they are a pain to do and take quite a lot of time, the dust seal on them is a right bh ) I had to make a special tool, with the cost of the kit and time it takes it maybe more cost effective to send them off. if you can be without for a while.

Thanks Leigh good point. I'll get Big Redd to sort out the calipers and will order the seals from RT Racing today. My garage floor is not looking good!

Cheers.

Well i have to sort out my power steering leek, passenger side window is slower than a retard so that needs sorting. i have a tear in the bolster of drivers seat to sort. rocker covers and plenum are having a bit of a freshen up. cracked and scratched the front spoiler when i bottomed out after some excited driving so thats another one.could do with re covering the targa but thats not a priority.

Not sure if you already know, but to get to the diff pinion seal involves removing the large securing nut behind the prop flange. The pinion bearing is preloaded by means of a one use crush washer/spacer, so removing the nut means that the preload needs to be re-set with a new crush washer - this is only possible by disassembling the diff.

All suspension bolts should be torqued at ride height, i.e. suspension loaded.
