Ah Hah- It all comes back now - this was the Penthouse car I think - used for a motoring piece rather than a prop for a Penthouse Pet - as you say, owned for a while by an import/export dude down Heathrow way and then off to Oz. What is it about TVR SXs that they have an antipodean bent? Don't think Dave Haughin ever went there - he though Birmingham was a foreign land!

Thanks for all the advice and support, once the install has been completed most of the car will have been refurbished or replaced so looking forward to getting out on the road at last. We plan to get the car running then look at performance / running enhancements afterwards. The mega squirt will not allow larger injectors to be fitted and has its limitations so thinking canems or emerald? Hopefully the intercooler will be ok, the pipework is narrower than supplied by sc power for the Chim although the intercooler itself is larger.
Interesting comment on Megasquirt... I've fitted MS to my 350i and it can cope with whatever you throw at it in terms of injector size. Pretty much the only limitations of megasquirt are the physical positions of where you choose to put the sensors and the amount of skill required to set it up... which is a considerable level of skill! I suspect this is where the problem lies.

Megasquirt is marketed by it's creators as a DIY system and that's exactly what it is - garages don't like it and I can understand why, having spent hours and hours getting all the settings right (or nearly so). Most of the time is spent getting cold/hot starts, part throttle stuff and transient conditions right; you can't really do that on a dyno. Setting up for full throttle / max power is easy (especially on a dyno), it's the rest that's difficult and long winded. I'd be very interested to find out what canems and emerald are capable of; I suspect they are much simpler so easier to set up!

It's also worth mentioning that Megasquirt is a multiheaded beast; MS1, MS2 or MS3; various internal modifications to add idle valves, fan control, direct coil control etc; different firmware (std or extra)... the number of potential options is enormous.

Megasquirt is fun to get to grips with but quite a big task...

Thanks for all the tips. I have no idea what version of megasquirt is installed, it says nout on the box. A chap called Sean has agreed that he can come and Map the car on the road. There were clearly problems with overfuelling etc previously although the car did drive well for a while, I had a major problem with hunting / over revs at idle after I had the gearbox rebuilt for some reason. A new stepper motor was installed which didn't help. It appears that there was an air leak in the intake system. We will take it from there but upgrades may be required!
