You could borrow one of mine, if and when Mark Adams responds to my emails so I can get the 390SE set up at Shropshire Automotive. Hope all is well and happy New year to you.

In view of the planned 2016 BBWF and a change from our usual new year celebrations, I thought I would do a preliminary inspection of the Wroxall Abbey Estate (hotel) and so checked me and the Mrs in for a couple of nights over the New Year break, which included the New Year celebration at their Gala Evening do. Here is my verdict from our experience of the hotel.

A very nice historic hotel in very big grounds. Ideal for motoring events for which they seem to be very popular. No shortage of parking space no matter how big the event. Also very popular for weddings etc.
The room we were given was very large, en suite with a larger than average bed. Very clean rooms and very historic settings. An excellent well stocked hotel bar and plenty guest sitting areas. Pool, jacuzzi and spa etc. Hotel not very cheap, but then we just checked in at random during holiday period, so prices were higher, I'm sure it'll be a lot better for pre arranged car events. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
On the downside the English breakfast was not as grand as some hotels I've been to and you have to keep an eye on what goes on your bill, spent in the hotel. Otherwise all good.

I hope I'm not breaking any rules of the forum by writing this. I just thought I'd give everyone an idea of what to expect.

I don't know if I will actually be able to attend the BBWF this year, much as I would like to from what I've seen, due to work commitments, but I will keep that date open until further notice and decide nearer the day. I have to say that Zig has made a good choice of the location from what I have seen, and will try my best to attend as I have done over the last few years.

Hi Tony,

Good job doing a rekky of the hotel and great to hear you feedback.

Absolutely can't wait to get to the BBWF now - it sound even better than I thought.

Would be great if you can make it - Ziga said he would get a round in this time so don't miss out. It doesn't happen that often! hehe

Cheers drink

As innocent as this may be I'm concerned that you are taking it upon yourself to check out the venue that I'm sourcing for this years fest..Would you of done this if i had booked the first venue which ticked all the boxes which happens to be in Newcastle?...

This is a job that i shall be doing as organiser of the event and will address these issues anyway..The reason why the food has been exceptional at the chase for the last two years was because i advised them that the majority of people were not previously happy..They listened...They employed a new chef...After all 50 compliments are better than 50 complaints!.

Now if i find that Wroxall are lax in providing the standards that me and the guest of this years BBWF 2016 are entitled to then they will hear about it.

This is not a task asked of you from me nor did you ask me if you could do this...So if you have any concerns or are unhappy with your stay there then you need to take it up with the hotel.

Sorry that your experience was not up to expectations but it has no relevance to this years Big Bad Wedge Fest..Which by the way is going to be fantastic!...

Cheers...Ziga

Mark, once again you've misunderstood. I didn't go to Wroxall to check it out. I went there for their new year celebration party. I dont need your permission to do that. I thought I'd be doing everyone a favour by letting them know my experience of staying there. I could have gone to any other hotel around the country for the same reason, as I sometimes actually fly there when it's long distance. Naturally, I would not have needed to write about my experience of staying there, had you done your job properly in the first place as an organiser and visited the hotel prior suggesting it to others, but as always you have an excuse for your shortcomings. I can see now, why valued members of the BBWF have withdrawn in the past and left you to it. I'm sure your event at Wroxall Abbey will be a good one, but I know when I'm not wanted and may not be a part of it.

The title of this thread is 'BBWF 2016 Plan'. Not what everyone is thinking about me. So please keep to the subject. I hope that's not too complicated for you to understand.
