There appear to be some ulterior motives at work here, which is very reminiscent of the attempt by a certain individual to undermine the 2014 BBWF (which obviously failed). Mark: keep doing what you're doing - I'm sure the vast majority are grateful for all your hard work organising these events, and I think the change of format and location is a great idea, which will hopefully attract an even bigger attendance of genuine Wedge enthusiasts this year.thumbup

Okay..Please can we get back to normal now as its making the event look bad and thats not what its about, If there is any under hand attempts to scupper the event then trust me i WILL know about it...Us fighting like this is just what small minded individuals would want....

Tony...

No-one has said they don't want you there..It seems you have alienated yourself, At the beginning of the thread i thanked you for going to the trouble of giving me your concerns about the Abbey..I have read the TripAdvisor and such like reviews and will address these issues..Im not interested about what they do the rest of the year as long as our stay is a memorable one...We might not like it and look elsewhere next year or we might love it.

Perhaps it would of been better to of emailed me instead of posting it up on the plan of the BBWF...It just looks bad and may put people off before i have a chance to sort it.

I don't know what you have heard but for your information i invited the previous organiser to the 2014 fest but was met with a chip on the shoulder attitude ...And a toys out the pram response..They chose not to come for their own personal reasons which I'm NOT responsible for!...

Just for the record I've attended two very large (over 250 people) company summer balls at Wroxall. The facilities were great and the food on both occasions was superb. When I told the missus of this years venue she was very happy, or was that just because we can escape from the kids for two days? biglaugh

From what I've seen Tony did us all a great service by posting up his review.

It does sound (from that) like an excellent place to go to, so keep at it Mark.

The information to watch what goes on your bill is extremely useful. Mark, as you are known to the hotel, you probably wouldn't have found this out on your "recce".

Looking forward to it, and if you do come Tony, I'll buy you a drink!! ;^) ;^)

Thanks Adam...What you say is true..But the biggest part of my responsibility while running this event is to make sure everything is transparent...What you see is what you get...Which includes costs of rooms and any hidden incurred costs...I want the best for my friends...Have i let you down yet...Was the food crap the last two years?...Was it value for money?....

I have done a basic check of the hotel and have been advised of the points you make but I'm on it like a hound on a hare...I more than anyone want the event to be a success....Last year we paid out around £70 on awards but still raised £800 for the pot...£500 went to SMA UK and there was just over £300 in the account..Which was boosted by the sale of the Wedge calendars to just over £600..I have put my self on the line with the hotel that has saved us £500...We are very near our target ..There are only 3 rooms left.

I will be calling on the hotel and will be addressing all the issues concerned..I would certainly not just book somewhere and then turn up on the day and hope everything fits the bill...I have already negotiated a special surprise for those who have booked early...At NO extra cost...I want the hotels full support as its in their best interests..I have special guests coming so they do not want to be disappointed .

Plus this years event is receiving maximum publicity which will see a healthy support from Wedge owners and TVR enthusiasts...As well as some welcomed exotics...smile

This years event is going to be one of the Biggest Baddest Wedge Fests

The weather gods have agreed to some scorching sun in July...I did ask them to bless the Growl as well...They said the main car park is okay but anyone in the 2nd car park will get drenched by a freak storm....laugh

Thanks for the kind words Adam but I don't think I'll be attending the BBWF this year. Much as I like Wedges and spend a lot of time and money on maintaining mine, the old magic of the festival is gone(for me anyway)and by the looks of it forever. During the summer months I tend to get a lot of weekend bookings for live shows, so I'll probably be busy anyway. Wroxall Abbey is a very nice historic hotel in very large grounds and in my opinion perfect for car festivals and such. I have to say Mark has picked the location well. I hope everyone enjoys themselves and that the festival is a big success. All the best.

What is that then Tony as its pretty much the same as its been just different organiser?...I thought you enjoyed it last year?...The only thing different is that i have saved people money on their shirts & Caps without scrimping on quality...At least £10...Made sure the food was above standard....Made EVERYONE feel welcome...And raised a healthy chunk of cash for good causes...What magic is missing?.....

I don't want to keep arguing with you Mark as we are going round in circles and it's also getting very childish. Especially when you and your friends accuse me of representing Mr Tank. (Suspicious Minds) as the song goes, and calling me names. You know who they are. I am not taking sides and no one is perfect. You are the organiser, everyone you represent seems to be happy so have a nice time and enjoy yourselves.

As said mate you are more than welcome...Just to let you know there are now only 2 left...I might be able to secure some more rooms once these have gone but there is a special treat for those who book early...You and the missus will like it...smile

It might be an idea to mention at this point that there is an advert for the Fest in February's Sprint Magazine which will start hitting the doormats later this week.

So those few remaining rooms Mark has reserved on his special deal won't be there very long. smile
