I remember not long back you said you might be looking for another. smile Be quick, I might be down in Grays Essex in a couple of week, if it is still there I might just be tempted to take a look, if I'm tempted to take look .. then...well! Not that I want to get rid of the 390 it just seems a real good price.

I am deffinately interested and am in contact with the owner. I haven't seen it yet, we are still at the enquiry and research stage as there are a few issues that need looking into. However, if all goes well and everything checks out, I could become 'Twin Wedge Tony'. Two identical red beauties. Except the interior colour of course. If I do buy it, my plan is to give my wedge to my son who is currrntly sharing mine. Then we'll have one each to use, and I quite like the idea of a 420 and well tuned it seems. Something a little quicker for the advanced driver like myself biggrin. Let's wait and see what happens, unless of course someone beats me to it.

Hi all, I acknowledge the 2006 comment as I sold it to the guy in Chelmsford, as I upgraded to a Tusc S. Great car, and goes like stink, it's a great buy, looking at it myself

I see you are concerned about the outriggers and it is a little sketchy in the ad..However at that price it would be still worth it if the riggers do need doing although I'm not convinced that you can chop off the complete side sections of chassis from the box section without even partially lifting the body??...Has anyone done this???...If so how do you support the car..Chassis..Body and new section for welding at the same time? and how do you weld the tops of the new tubes...I thought the outriggers supported the body?..Is it different on a 400SE?...

I know i have chopped off bits of GRP but chassis?....Im just curious to know if this is possible?...Just sounds wrong....Cheers...Ziga

The outriggers on the 400SE are slightly different in that they don't have the side body mounting plate - which is just as well as the sills are not detachable. It can be done in situ - tvrengineer.co.uk (Engineer1949) did a cracking job on mine.

Had the outriggers done on the 400 by Dan Taylor a while back, and it was with a small body lift - fortunately all of the carpet had been stripped out already, and I'd replaced all of the body mounting bolts with stainless, making it much easier for him.

Thanks for that info...I knew about the plates and moulded sills but haven't been underneath a 400SE so don't know what room there is to do that...It just sounds a bit weird...I guess if you know what you are doing like John does then its all good and saves a load of time and money...I wouldn't trust a garage round the corner though...Trouble is if you are going to keep it then its not knowing if there is any damage that you cannot see that you would see if you lifted the body...

It must be a wonderful feeling knowing that you have had the body off and have sorted everything out..Good for another 20-30 years...Happy days....Cheers...Ziga

I didn't have the body off Zig as my budget wouldn't stretch to that............what John did was make up a new outrigger on the bench and paint it up then cut off the old one from about 300mm from the outside edge then weld in the new one using a sleeve.

Next time I'm under the car I'll photograph it.

Sounds about right then...You lives and learns...I remember thinking when i first joined the TVR fraternity that the outriggers were like the kiss of death to these cars but the more you learn the more you realise its not as bad as it sounds..

Buy it Tony...You know it makes sense...."Tony two Wedges"....tongue out

It looks a good'un....Cheers...Ziga

My son is 24 but has been driving me mad to get insured on the wedge since he was 21. We searched high and low with no joy until last year when he turned 24. Admiral do a multi car policy and will add on a classic car for a 24 year old with a load of rules and regulations and a huge excess. It costs an aditional 600 sovs extra for him to be included which he offered to pay himself. Soon he turns 25, so hopelully this year the extra money for him to drive will be less.

I fell in love with that colour when i saw it at a BBWF...Its so close to what i wanted for Delilah.

I guess if you are not using it mate...If these Wedges don't go then the owners will be welcome to bring them to the fest for people to view...And have a good look at...Im sure someone will have a jack and a torch....smile

Another one just gone up for sale up north. This time white with a 4.5. Front lights have been changed and look hideous IMO

BNG 2012

Wedge calendar shoot with girls...It was worth the 300 mile drive that nearly killed Delilah....
Fantastic weekend..Raised some money for charity...Met three gorgeous babes...(4 including the lovely lass at the hotel)...Spent time with good people eating good food..And gulping some rusty....

"Careful love"

I think Wedgienald 2 pulled her over...

Delilah made friends with two of them...The dirty lezza, You can see her leaning up to Katie, She took a shine to her...
