Peddle Extension
Discussion
Hello, to cut a long story short, i'm a little man in a big car (350i wedge) and its a pain to reach the pedals. Driving through london central was a nightmare!
I was hoping the pedal positions would b adjustable, however it seems they are not, so i'm asking "does anyone know of an extension set that will work with a wedge, and where I can get em?"
I seen an old thread with some link but they didn't work anymore. Cheers.

I would suggest that it may be easier to move the seat forward ? The rails simply bolt to the GRP floor, so 10 mins with the drill .....
As long as the steering wheel is OK for you with seat moved, this is the least painful I reckon.
(speaking as a tall bloke with the opposite problem - Tasmin is indeed quite 'long' in the footwell )

There was something available for the Griff but not sure if it would fit the Wedge..I know one Wedger who is a short fellow and he raised the seat up a bit as it wasn't enough to just move the seat forward...<snip>
Oops, and of course quite a few steel cars simply had spacers under the seat rails and longer bolts - still pretty easy to do compared to messing around with special/modded pedal box.....Of course those of us in the over 6 ft club tend to take the spacers out, and take padding out of the seat.....(yes - done that several times)
Thanks for the suggestions chaps,
As soon as I sort out the misfire its developed I will get it down to the local shop too, and see what they can do seat rail wise, see what the damage will be.

- Good idea. Like mrzigazaga said, i'd need to lift it too, because it wont to go any further forward. It seemed simpler in my mind to bring the pedals to me, but so if no-one makes extensions for the wedge, maybe i will try to find generic/universal ones.As soon as I sort out the misfire its developed I will get it down to the local shop too, and see what they can do seat rail wise, see what the damage will be.

When does it happen?...Actually if you get stuck then post up as its a common occurrence with these cars it seems but its normally a simple fix...Check the plug firmness on the ECU..Push it home to see if it clicks...They can be off by a mere mm and give problems..Change the king lead if its different from the plug leads as these are normally too short in the off the shelf types....Hope this helps...ZigaA good friend with a Griff has just emailed me and told me that Leven do a conversion for the Griff and that it may fit the Wedge also...Might be worth calling them...
Leven are now Prestige Performance...Ask to speak to Jill...
Thanks

Yep, many manufacturers simply put seat or rails on steel spacers to lift it. You could use several thick washers instead, and perhaps longer bolts. On mine, the rails simply bolt through the floor with a wide washer to spread the load - could move rails forward with a hand drill and a bit of measuring...As soon as I sort out the misfire its developed I will get it down to the local shop too, and see what they can do seat rail wise, see what the damage will be.
I still reckon it's easier than messing with the pedal box, but if you can find a kit, hey it's your car, so it's your choice..
When I was using the TVR more, I looked into it. I thought I wanted about an inch or so but didn't want to be closer to the steering wheel so I didn't want to move the seat closer. There were several internet places that sold blocks to add to the face of the pedals. I thought I could do it better but didn't follow up.
If you just need a little boost, I thought something added to the existing rubber covers might work. If you needed more, I was thinking that something metal clamped around the shaft (so no weakening of the shaft) and supported by the peddle face might give more stretch without having to tear the peddle box apart.
How much extra do you need/want? Grady

I didn't say this before, but in a kit build I did a while ago, I lengthened the push rods so that the pedals sat higher up. This works for hydraulic clutch, but needs more fiddling if it's a cable clutch. It does change the pedal angles more than blocks would though, so make sure it's what you want !

Thanks, I've been googling around and found nothing yet, but thats the kind of thing i was initially thinking of.Grady said:

I'm gonna try not to make a joke here, but all I need is 2 to 4 inches.mrzigazaga said:

Cheers Ziga, I've been mucking around in the engine bay just making sure everything is fitted properly and having a bit of a 'take it off and put it back on again' session, which seems to have cured the issues for now. Which is good news. Im going to replace all the leads and a cracked air pipe I found after the air sensor. I've also read some of the steve heath wedge manual and am kicking myself for using 95RON fuel on a long run I did. Doh!Super only from now on!
Hi mate...Seems that most of the pedal extenders are for disabled drivers...
