Ok, Whilst an engine is out and on a stand, what is the best way to flush out the block and what is best to use in ensuring it is as clean as I can get it before reassembly?

degreaser, preferably mixed with hot water, then powerwash from all angles. Then airpistol to get out all the water, then use a rag to oil the liners so they dont rust.

Or use a big engine parts washer/cleaner smile not everyone has that

As above.

I had mine done at Chesman Engineering, pretty reasonable iirc.

you wont be able to flush out the engine while its assembled and I suggest you don't try, the best you can do is remove sump clean well make sure strainer is secure and clean and change oil and filter and thats it scratchchin apart from cleaning the exterior

I have, just need to flush the block out with something that won't cause the liners to rust...

Just dont use saltwater and leave it standing wet a week. A quick proper wash with degreasers is no problem. Dry it off then oil the liners.
