The relays for my motors are different, they have the diodes in them, with no other diodes in the circuit. But mines havent worked for ages and i cant find five pin relays with diodes.
I think i might try another rewire following wedgeneering curcuit diagram.
Cheers

Something wrong there - none of the relays should get hot, after all they only power the motors for a few seconds each time.

The diodes connected to the relays are there for only one reason, which is that otherwise, both main and dip beam would be connected together, and both headlamp filaments would light up. That's why actually you can get away with only one diode. They are NOT part of the relay, but added in somewhere (fuse box on later wedges, or wired in the the relay base(s) on early ones.

The diodes in the motors are the same really, they allow the UP and DOWN 'park' switches to be connected together without interfering with each other.

On mine, the two relays which drive the motors actually short the motors when it turns them off. This is an old trick for permanent magnet motors as it makes them stop instantly, it is/was common to do this on wiper motors. I am adding this info as that's where you may get a short circuit from, if it's not connected quite right ?

REMEMBER 4 AND 5 PIN RELAYS ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE, and CHECK PIN LAYOUT !!
I have seen 4 pin relays with different pin layouts to 'standard', so worth a double check.
