Where are all the Toyo Proxes?

I've been looking for T1-R's on a 245/45/16, been out of stock for weeks. What's going on?

Mmm, don't know? All the SORNed over winter cars getting re-shod for their MOT's and summer seasons?

I got a set of 4 last year without difficulty but wished I hadn't. If I had an alternative you could have them, they're bloody horrid. Can feel every grain of dust on the road and they're less predictable on corners than the Nankang Hedgefinders I had on before them (actually they were Eurotour 408s which are NLA either).

I had a new set of Toyos fitted 2 years ago on the 350i and I love them. Grip in both the wet and dry is great, ride is not harsh. I've done just under 8,000 miles in the 2 years and wear is very limited. Car is still running old fashioned rubber bushes not poly so no doubt this helps absorb the bumps.

Yeah I got my last set 2 years ago and there were some special offers around so not expensive. It's strange how some people like them and some hate them, what pressures are you running at Ian?

Was told no new stock in the UK until the end of May. I'm waiting for a call....

What tire pressures are you running they can make a lot of difference.
Cars these days are a lot heavier so general tire pressures have gone up my A6 is 42PSI for example , but for the wedge 22-26 is ideal, so they may have put too much when they fitted them.

I run 23psi front 25psi rear.

For the road I usually put 22 psi in mine.

Wear is always even.

For the garage I put 50 psi.

Ordered mine from Black circles online, no problem getting hold of them then fitted them myself at work. £62 per tyre too!

There must be some thing in the water as ive been looing at tyres for the SEAC, looking for 245,45,16 all round and was going with the toyo t1-r's but i really want a tyre that i can use all year round and ok in the wet.
Happy for any recommendations.

I use mine in the winter ;^) Ideally you want to buy them in the autumn so you have the most tread all winter. However if you only do a few thousand miles a year it doesn't make much odds, I get about 15k miles out of a pair down to 2mm.

I did hear that Toyo may be stopping production on the T1-R... I certainly hope not its been my staple on every car i've owned!

26F/24R IIRC.

It could just be that all the tyres I've had in the past have been a bit more compliant but the Toyos definitely feel a bit tip-toey to me in corners...

As I mentioned above the Continental sport contact is excellent on all my other cars, my golf GTI is a similar weight and power to the TVR so these should work well.

I use Uniroyal Rainsport 3 on both Tamy and Suni and they have been great. Used all year round and on the track. Not sure of their availability in 16 inch though.

Was using Dunlop Blueresponse on the Box - 16 inch wheels on a Touran with over 330lb torque - and very impressed. I know alot of the S guys - both v6 and v8 - use them all year round inc trackdays. They are definitely well regarded in that circle. Needed some front tyres the other day and have gone for the Michelin Cross Climate. Happy so far.
