Really really important question here.
How the bloody hell do you get the glass back in the runners? mine fell out last year and the glass is sat in the bottom of the door and I cant get the bloody thing back in.
my experience that the runner/glass holder has to come out, you may have to pinch the metal to ensure it grips before you tap back onto the glass (the dirt will help to locate in the correct position), pop it back on the scisser arm and lube up.......the glass runner at the sideHow the bloody hell do you get the glass back in the runners? mine fell out last year and the glass is sat in the bottom of the door and I cant get the bloody thing back in.
As per usual I was trying to do it in completely the wrong way lol.
If it is dry tomorrow I might have a crack at it and see if I can fix the bugger properly this time.

If it's come out of the sliding channels then you need to check for corrosion in them (probably at the bottoms) because they can't usually move around for the glass to tilt far enough to jump out.How the bloody hell do you get the glass back in the runners? mine fell out last year and the glass is sat in the bottom of the door and I cant get the bloody thing back in.
If it's come out of the lower support bit then see Hotty's answer

Is it easy to take the side window glass from the lift channel? Just pull the glass up at the rear corner and remove it?
Or is there a better way? Obviously I don't want to risk damaging the glass.
Wilf.

I have found the only way to remove the glass is to undo the two bolts at the bottom of the vertical runner (catch side), move it over whilst keeping hold of the glass, if like me the glass is already loose from the horizontal metal guide/holder, then pull up.
If you need to remove for any other reason the metal guide/glass holder will have to be slid over to free from the scissor arm. (you may need to take out a retaining nut in the guide but car seems different)
Well after posting up the pic of my rusty runner i have dug the new one out from the cupboard of doom...I think it may have been the cheaper version...This was brand new and has sat around in my flat for a couple of years in a dry cupboard...However it did start to go rusty so i treated it with some rust inhibitive paint..Just bear this in mind if you buy the cheaper one....
Also have some 1.5 mm Nitrile rubber sheet that i can use for the gasket....
Weather is amazing...So its on the cards soon.....

Cheers Mark, runner turned up yesterday (landy one - was a different runner profile but fitted and aftermarket rubber)
All fitted last night, needed to remove the vertical runner at the hinge side too to get the glass back in!
Boot lock sorted
Having to look at a back firing at 3000rpm in 3rd/4th but could be cam related
But found the Cure CD so ready for Durham this weekend

Were did you get the new runner from Zig? i could do with a couple and the rubber inserts.
Hi Jon...I got one from the fest a couple of years ago...Cant remember who from though...It was either Barrington or B@man....The ones for the Rangey from grimmers is what people use..If you buy the cheaper one though it might be worth giving it a blast with some paint to stop it from going rusty which it seems to do fairly quickly....They also sell the rubber insert....adam quantrill said:
You should be able to fit the glass with everything else in place. I did it quite recently.
I tried this yesterday. The glass was still very well fastened to the metal runners so I managed to get the runners back on the little rubber wheels on the scissor, got the glass into the right place (or so I thought) glass drives up and down more or less ok then I noticed that somewhere whilst I was fiddling it had slipped out of the channel on the hinge side of the door Could I get the bd thing back into the channel and everything else where they should be at the same time?.
Job abandoned for another day when I can face removing the hinge end channel from the door.
