Thanks for your thoughts, I'll bear the above in mind.
The spigot had been soft soldered so maybe it can be redone without a flame involved.
No rush at this stage, lots of other things to get on with.

This is a very low mileage car, l was expecting to see it a bit cleaner inside the plenum

Keep the photos coming, always interesting to see progress on projects like this. Hadn't realised your wedge was a FHC, always had a bit of a hankering for one of them.

See you in Luxembourg.

Yes of course, I should have said the small outlets are soldered, sorry!

As for the plenum, looks about right to me, in fact that might well be the factory sealant (it's usually brownish and hard, most people use blue Hylomar or similar). As the crankcase fume/oil mist is drawn into the plenum it mixes with the fuel vapour and deposits everywhere; you might actually find pools of oil in some of the recesses of the trumpet base. There are drain holes in the recesses around the trumpets but they block easily.

Thanks Wedg1e I'll not be panicking then, sorry for delay, been away hooning in the Europe.
Back to wedging, plodding on with sanding and painting chassis, bit of a drag but the lump isn't coming out so grit blasting is not an option.
Question: what size and thread are the nuts that go on the drive shaft flanges?
7/16 unf go on ok but feel a bit baggy plus I guess they will be exposed to heat so not nyloc, anything special?

Tried the diff in tonight, some spacers needed between the metalastic bushes and the diff hanger.
Another visit to Charnwood Fasteners tomorrow to stock up with necessary gubbins

IFAICR they are 7/16 fine, I fitted allmetal locking nuts, like nylocks but without the plastic. got them from an aerospace specialists, but I think they was about £2 each. I tired nylocks but they melted and make a lot of smoke the 1st time I had a major hoon.

Progress has suffered from other jollies intervening.
