Hi all, radiator is out. Looking a bit sad.

But is this normal for the radiator cowl

The rubber flaps have rotted away!

Hi mate

I would get some 3mm nitrile rubber sheet and replace the flaps as they act as a seal when you stop and the fan comes on.
The air gets pulled through the cowling from the front spoiler...If the flaps are missing then when you are stationery then the fan will be pulling in hot air from the engine bay..The flaps open when you are driving at speed.

Hope this helps...

At last my radiator is back

But they forgot to fill the hole, might have to spend 2p and fill it myself.

.Personally i would get the otter switch welded up and fit a thermo-coupling in the pipe work to operate the cooling fan.

Thanks for the advice on this, although I had to do it myself in the end

Eek I just binned one of those Gunstons CO meters you could have had it.

Not used it for years as have this now :

Should it be reading 14.7 without the engine running.
