I've been offered an F512M but can't decide what I think of them. Any thoughts and opponions are appreciated.

£ 250 000 says others think it is already some sort of classic within the context of the current bubble

You appear to be a dealer so does it matter what they are like provided there's a profit at the end of the day !!!

I'm only a dealer of a very narrow band of very specific rare Porsche. I was and am a car enthusiast first. I was thinking of adding a testarossa to my collection, but was offered a 512M. I can't decide on whether I like them. Was interested in others views.

500 made worldwide, and 38 UK RHD, so very rare indeed!

Thanks amoCS. I know they're rare, but can't decide whether that makes them desirable. Are they that much better than a testarossa or 512TR. For the same money there's other rare ferrari like CS, Scud, Speciale.

The 512m is in my top 5 Ferrari. Love the fact that they divide opinion too!
Only ever seen one on the road and it really looked the business.
Please buy it and show us lots of photos.
What colour is it btw?

The last Ferrari with the B12 certainly will be a future classic. Moreover on the road it should be better than the Testarossa and the 512TR. I barely know a guy who owns one red, living here in Turin area in Italy. The “componibili” wheels are not so typically Ferrari but they are stunning. He also owns a black Testarossa that he uses more often, I believe he owns both from new.
Personally I consider the looks of the first Testarossa the most stunning but they are both exceptional cars and sound great. And I prefer the 512M compared to the 512TR for the looks.

For the collector, they will always be desirable due to low production volume. There are much more rare than the above named vehicles.
Get it and store it away for a few years :-)

is the F512M rarer than the 512TR? always thought the TR was nicer looking - wheels / front / rear lok an odd mix of new and old on F512M IMHO

Both the later cars are leagues ahead of the Testarossa, personally I would take the M over the other two models, however I would not pay a massive premium over the TR....I have owned and sold quite a few of each variation, both later cars are fabulous things to own.

Yes they are.
512m = 500
512tr = c2000

I've had a 512tr for 5 years, fantastic car!

The M is oh so ugly. The TR is not only more attractive, but I think is as good a car to drive as the M. Both are light years ahead of the TR in that regard. Low production numbers aren't always the key to a sound investment either.

I had a look at 512Ms late last year - there were at least 5 normal looking cars for sale in the UK at the time but the 4 I looked at were all Japanese imports which had next to no history and some had had engine modifications which had later been removed, presumably Koenig kit as you see it in lots of pictures from Japanese meets in the 80s, but as there was no documentation you had no idea

Thanks for all the views and comments on this, some of which echo my thoughts as well. I'm just so undecided on the looks side of it. Apparently the engine has many upgrades. Is it that noticeable to drive and a really special engine.

For sure, yes

I wanted a 512M but the price shot up so ended up with a near perfect TR. Both drive the same and both are leagues ahead of driving the Testarossa - everything was fixed by the factory - gearchange, performance increase, breathes better, brakes better, lower CoG. The TR does stop traffic. The amount of middle-aged men who tell me it was on their wall when they were young...

BTW my notation for these is as follows...
Testarossa = Testarossa (funnily enough!)
Testarossa 512TR = Mk2 Testarossa
Testarossa 512M = Mk 3 Testarossa

Get one - the best you can soon!

I doubt it. It's a fine car but you'll be buying now at the top of the market. Some cars will be stickier when prices soften, not sure this is one of them. Where was this car's price in 2012? And if you can brush the delta aside, enjoy.

Sure, assuming "top of the market" means you think it's topped out forever and will never increase. My view (only mine, OK) is good TRs and Ms will be £500K in 5-10 years time. OK, there's possible Bexit to consider but it will eventually recover if bksed up.

As you say though as much as these are assets - enjoy the ownership and the driving experience biggrin

I'm with Camlet on this. I like them, particularly in more obscure colours, but I wouldn't buy one now as any sort of investment.
