So knowing diddly squat about full suspension bikes but own a 12 yr old Scott genius 750, these two have peaked my interest.

Currently 15% off cannondale at the mo and I can get 10% off the Boardman, both get good reviews, the new bike will be used on mainly single track and the odd bike park visit.

Which is worth more of a look ?

Hmmm left fork on the cannondale might be bit of a problem, as usually drive to go mountain biking and the m4 does not take bike racks, so bike has to go into boot with front wheel off.

Any other recommendations for a full sus bike around £1500-£1700 ?

I have the FS Pro 2016 and can't fault it. The Pike fork is very nice and the Guide R brakes.
With BC membership you can get an extra 10% off and bring the price down to about 1200.
Add a stealth dropper post and away you go.

It's an easy way to lower your seat for when the terrain gets more lumpy and downhill, it's stops your weight being thrown forwards over the front wheel and bars and allows you to manouver you weight around the bike better without the seat getting in the way.
When you have to stop and lower it, it isnt always easy to get it back up to the same full height, and you can do it on the fly without interrupting your flow of riding.
Most people who use them never go back to without.

Wait for Halfords own 10% off events too, and also consider the "voucher trick" to get 3 x 10% off in total!

Jackel - how tall are you, and what size do you have? Im ~5'10 and currently have the 2012 model FS (the last 26" version) in medium. I also have the last generation HT Pro, also in medium. So, im probably safe going with medium again, but the website suggests Large...

Have you a link to the Boardman? the only one I could see was the old model, I think they are releasing a new one this year, but can't see it on the awful website for Halfords.

I was also looking at Boardman and also the Canyon Nerve at the same price, which got excellent reviews.

Yeah, appears to be missing from Halfords site - must be out of stock...
This is Boardmans main site though:

And this is a pretty cool video:

The spec on the Boardman is really nice, I have a 10% off bikes voucher from an Etape I did, it will get you 10% off on top of BC membership diacount and sales price, it's yours if you want it?

I'm about 5'10 and a bit and I fit the 19" perfectly (I think they do 17 18 and 19 as the S M &L)
The sizing wont strictly be the same as the previous models as the have lengthened the top tube and shortened the stem and steepened the seat tube.
If you can find an FS Team (the black and orange one) in a shop they should be the same geometry.
In terms of stock, you really need to keep checking with customer services via web chat, they will know what is in stock a good few days before the stores. Otherwise you will struggle to find one in a shop.

Is there much difference between the previous model and the new one? They have some stock of the old model and it looks like it's discounted

There are quite a few differences:
Pike Fork!
SRAM GX 1x11 drivetrain
Slightly slacker, shorter chainstays, steeper seat tube, longer top tube and shorter stem (better all round for climbing and descending)
Routing for internal dropper
Apparently the rear suspension has been tweaked for better leverage.

My mate has the old one and it does feel different.
But if your budget has to be under a grand the previous model is still a great buy with all the discounts.

I've just bought a cannondale carbon 2 trigger from Pauls cycles, reduced from 4k to 2k, worth a look if you are in that price bracket.

Walked into Bristol's cycle republic to have a look at the Boardman fs pro and reserved it !

Cycle republic have a sale on at the moment, fs team is £850 and if you ask nicely the fs pro is £1274, at that price and with the voucher and bc card it's an absolute steal. This deal runs out on Friday and I don't know if it is repeated in halfords.

I was going to go cannondale but the lefty fork does not work with my M4's boot as it is a right faff to remove the front wheel, easy but a through axle is quicker.

Wow £1274 BEFORE discounts?
Great find, even Halfords don't have them.
Buy two, you would easily find a buyer for the second at about £1300 and buy a dropper with the profits lol

Chuffed with my new boardman fs pro, 15% off and used a gift card so only cost me £1180 !

Got home to discover I've got an upgraded monarch debonair rear shock and a 2017 fsa comet crankset fitted.

Will take it on a small ride tomorrow.
