I'm not a fan of the Red Chassis, particularly on my Car which is metallic green.

I will be having the chassis refurbished very soon, what are peoples thoughts on a change of colour on the Chassis?
I was contemplating a grey, i'd like to keep the car as close to original as possible to protect it's future value, would a colour change affect this?

Any colour beats rust brown i guess !!

Didn't do a body off but when I was using the por15 on my chassis I did try the grey I thought it looked pretty good with the metallic green car, ended up going over it with black hammerite (for extra protection) & regret that colour change dearly..

The original on most cars, according to pics I have from the factory, appear to have started in a very light grey or white. Mine has shown no trace of that and appears to have been powder coated black from the beginning (it is a dark green car). I very much doubt there is a 'correct' colour and I would guess any buyer or enthusiast looking at the car would judge it on condition rather than colour. As long as you do not choose a girly pink perhaps!

If you're going to keep it clean, go for a pale colour. If you aren't, go for a dark colour.

My chassis is black. wink

That is indeed very bloooooooh. Do you know they make some very nice silicone hoses in that colour, and cylinder block paint and so on. You might never find the engine again!!!

Mine is black, I'm not sure I'd paint it that colour if I did it again.

The Red and Green don't actually look that bad together, I'm just not a fan of the red chassis.
Some great pics, clearly colour isn't really an issue, still think it'll be grey for me

Funnily enough those were exactly my thoughts when I bought the car, red was far too loud and vulgar, a nice subtle shade of " John Major" was what it needed.

I stuck with the red because mine never got a body off, just painted sections as and when I had access (body lift, engine out etc.) but should I ever go the "whole hog" in the future red it would stay smile

Mines a dark hammerite green which I think looks good on a green car.

Chassis paint is like lingerie: dark colours are ok if you don't mind it getting a bit filthy.

^^^^ On that basis, you could always strip the chassis bare and spray on nothing but Chanel No.5.

Sounds like a plan, less is more
But swmbo expects us to return from the shed smelling of transmission fluid, C5 might be problematic

Eta.
Back on topic, if it really matters what colour you paint the chassis will it look good next to all the other components?
Silicone hoses, cable ties, spring etc.
Is there scope for painting things that move a contrasing colour, without it looking too busy?

I think that's a valid point, most of the items i am preparing for the rebuild are basic colours. I.E hubs are plated, calipers are black etc.

To my mind the bonus of a light coloured chassis is the advantage of seeing any chips/damage that occurs, therefore addressing it before it gets to far.

a colour that looks good with green....

doesn't show muck, or rust. Triumph had the answer:
