For those who struggle to find King leads in the correct size, I've mounted the coil on the plenum with a modified rover mini coil bracket

It's a million times easier to source ignition leads.

Blimey. I can cook eggs on my plenum after 10 minutes of running so hope the heat soak doesn't become an issue?

Hi mate

I think they were put on the inner wing to avoid the heat effecting the coil...I should imagine under bonnet temperatures are significantly higher in a Wedge engine bay than a Land Rover...smile

Some heat reflecting material may help....I made a little jacket for mine...

It was on the same position on my Range Rover. Just seemed a natural place to put it.

I'm going to see how it goes. I always have a spare in the boot anyway. They're pretty much a service item. + it's 30 seconds to put it back on the wing.

The Elephant has a plenum mounted coil, as did all Holden 5.0 V8 engines of the era.

It gets incredibly hot under there but I've never read of any problems associated with the proximity...
