After a slave cylinder for the 350SE. After the catastrophic failure on the way home from the BBWF. The slave cylinder was OK until it come undone and wedged the clutch down, so no drive.

Hi Jim.
Sorry to hear about your breakdown on the BBWF home trip..

These are two that I ordered from Rimmer Bros, I must admit though I cant remember which I ended up using.

Part No. 591231P £6.95
Part No. UKC8677 £18.75

Cheers
Dom

Has one of the holding bolts come undone or has the slave casting failed? If it is bolted down tight I wouldn't have expected it to twist as is shown. I got a new slave from Rimmer last year and I thinki it was the more expensive one from Doms list of two.

That looks like you've lost a bolt and its popped out

If the rod is still attached to the fork can you reattached slaved and re bolt and bleed?

I bought a slave from Neil at ML performance, bolted striaght on. Cheaper ones are available but I knew this would fit

Both bolts came undone, the bolt still in has twisted in the last few threads and jammed the release fork down. If the piston seal wasn't damaged it could of been bolted straight back in and away we go.

Ouch! I won't ask who did the bolts up.... (mind you I once lost a bold but the other was on tight).

I just bought a couple of spares as I was ordering from Island 4x4 anyway and they are only around £6 for master or slave, the latter being an FTC 5071, but you have to adapt the thread to the one on the hydraulic pipe.

The slave which ML supplied needed a different size fitting to the one I took off. Couldn't easily get an adaptor, so had to get a new pipe made up. Given the price, it was slightly disappointing.

Was a straight swap to the one on my SEAC, nothing changed....guess it depends on what is the unit coming off

Hi Guys

Went for the FTC5071 after a little research its the same as a UKC8677. The one off the bay looked the same casting as the one that came off so taken a gamble. Thankfully the bolt holes are ok, and with the addition of some spring washers and correct length bolts we should be up and running again.

Thanks guys

Jimbo

Yeah as I said the original is Thread Size: 7/16 20UNF but you might find the one you ordered is different - let's see when it arrives.

See http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=145...

The adapter pipe is still on there and has done 12k miles no issues.

Slave cylinder turned up and yes. the thread is different. now the thread on the master end is a spot on fit for the slave. so guessing its been changed as the slave wasn't original. Just need a new pipe.

Yeah it's one of those jobs you just know it's going to work from the feel of it.

Interested in where you got the pipe end from? Is it an 11mm fitting like I thought and if so where did you/they order the union?

Got the pipe made up by a well known motor factors, the only thing is they no longer offer this service.(not what you know). They didn't have quite enough 1/4 pipe, so its been rerouted slightly.

Just picked up a brake pipe flaring tool on the flea, cheap as chips only £9 at the moment.

So I'll be able to make better unions than the old hammer and torx bit method... ;^)
