I had a rev limiter on mine set at about 5200 and it was great fun running into it and getting some massive bangs out of the exhaust.

However it had to go - eventually it started cutting in at normal revs and the engine was cutting out.

I thought mine was playing billy suggers a few years ago so I disconnected it, but it turned out the ignition pickup coil in the dissie was breaking down, preventing the engine from revving. Eventually the pickup went open-circuit and needed a replacement which restored proper operation... but I've never got round to reconnecting the rev limiter whistle

Ford Colognes.....

I did read somewhere that the early V6 dizzys (inc. 2.3) had a spring loaded rotor arm thing, but it was very unreliable in service, so was replaced by an ordinary solid version.
