If they are the same as on the 350i you can remove the complete seatbelt mounts and re-fabricate new mounting plates if required. I've got some pic I'll add tomorrow. How ever if these have gone, chances are the main body mounting plates on the outrigger will also need attention. Unfortunately 400 sill are not removable so this might not be a straight forward as on a 350/390?

Not sure the 400 is the same as I know the outriggers are a different material for a start. But here's mine on a 350i.
These two pics are the bottom of the seatbelt mounts.
This one is what the body mounting plate looked like on the outrigger
Repaired seatbelt mounts.
And the interior of the car during the repair!

Right i have managed to save the pics you sent me Stuart...Thanks for the help karl.
My suspicion is that this plate bolts through to the outriggers as the 400SE had square outriggers instead of tubular like the 350i/390SE.
Although I've never owned one so probably don't know what I'm talking about......What we need is someone who has owned one 400SE a year for the last 5 years instead of someone who has had one 400SE for five years giving us the benefit of their extensive expertise...
I think further investigation is needed matey...To anyone in the know...I take it that there is a layer of fibreglass in-between the plate and outrigger?.
Which could mean its not such a major issue as you have a roll bar fitted with a four point harness if needed....Just stop it in its rusty track if you have been kind of lucky....

You da man Marky ,I like what your saying . Can you make me a four point harness in cream leather please ??
Quick release or harness.....Im sure you could use the top point over your right shoulder to the seat belt lock on the lower left of the original seat belt holder/Lock.
Then you can still drive the car and replace the inner seat belt support as you go...As long as there is no more rust under the car from that.
If the plate is good below it then surely you can cut the bolts out..Remove the offending item and then put a new bolt in until you get the new ones made?...Or does it cause the shell to drop on that side?....
