Amber Front Indicators
Discussion
I realise this has probably been done a few times but I am after a front Indicator with an Amber lens, I want one that fits correctly, one that sits over the trim etc like the originals.
Are the reproduction ones that you see advertised the correct size and shape?
I see TVR Spare Parts have them at £90 + vat
Don't suppose anyone has any lying around doing nothing

Im sure theres a few who have kept original spares but getting them to part with them is another story
..Soooo these are complete replicas of the original ones & will fit the same.. Lense & body £60, think there abit cheaper direct from his store if you google it (i think), certainly look good tho!

People will say buy this £5 unit or that.. But IMHO they never look anywhere near as good as originals.. I actually went for the repro smoked lenses so same size etc as the originals.. At least while I still had front indicators that is
There is something about the way they sit on the bumper that makes all the difference. But also makes them vulnerable to damage.
It's not buying these cars that costs, it's the maintaining... Its amazing how few of our cars still have the proper origional indicators..
Anyway just my 2p but it's your car..
Cheers

I do want to get the right type and fit, they should wrap over the body/bumper and some suggested do not appear to do that. Some are actually smaller too, both height and width.
As said, they are not protected though when they are on, prone to damage I guess.
Thanks for the suggestions, I will keep looking at all alternatives but if I have to I will bite the bullet

Hi, the ones i posted above are genuine remakes from the originals, they cover the rubber bumper unlike the good ol bmw e30 ones on my 'S' as seen below..As said, they are not protected though when they are on, prone to damage I guess.

Have a look at the TVR Parts description, I dont think they are 'originals', I believe they are the Nissan Terrano ones? I had the BMW E30 ones on for a long time, a good option if you are on a budget. I tried for the Kia Pride ones but the ones the dealer had looked a bit poor (might have been old stock) so when I sorted the front I went for the Nissan ones.
I dont think they are in any way inferior to the originals.

They are the Valeo ones I think that are smaller, they don't cover the rubber on the bumper.
Someone also told me the Leyland Daf van ones may do?
Problem is for me, many probably fit into the hole and do the job as an indicator but they don't curve over the edges like the original ones fitted, if I fit a smaller one in it looks a bit of a mess.
On a side note but also Lights, found someone locally by accident who sells old Ford bits mainly for concours Fords, I asked if he had any rear MK4 Escort Lights, managed to picked up a pair of NOS still boxed etc which will look so much better than my current pair, one has a hole in it and is taped up and the other is an aftermarket part that has gone all cloudy and doesn't match

Yes they were Leyland Sherpa, but only on a limited number of Sherpa models, pre 1981 I think. Part number BAU 2249. Listed as obsolete since 2005. Checks have been made through motor factor networks in the UK, Europe and even Australia and we got what we could find. Having said that some old garage somewhere will have a few tucked away.
Must admit I actually prefer the Nissan ones after comparing cars. That overlapping part on the Sherpa ones doesnt look right to me. Matter of taste, however I have stockpiled Nissan ones at the right price!

Escort Mk 4 Rear ones (not van or cabrio) are definitely getting harder but they are more recent and were made in bigger quantities so can still be found.

Would Ford Maverick front indicators be the same as the Nissan Terrano? The vehicles looked the same? TVR used Ford for many other bits on my S1When you say overlapping part doesn't look right, what was originally fitted, that part overlapped didn't it?
