Sorry guys I'm sure there is a more appropriate place to ask this question but I'm just about to flip my lid.

Any computer geniuses amongst the ranks?

I readiness for by Daughters birthday present (new iPhone) arriving tomorrow. I thought I would download iTunes for her etc.

But she's had this really annoying DNS Unlocker adware thing show up a week or so back and it's more or less slowing everything down to the point I can't do anything.

Tried to follow all the removal advice on the net but the simple fact no part of the programme show in add/remove programs in the control panel.

There seems to be removal software advertised but not sure if this is yet another annoying scam.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated before my rage ends up costing me a new pc as well as an iPhone.

Cheers Karl.

Malwarebytes is certainly trustworthy.

Thanks Paul

But I've tried most of what it says on there. The second I try to download one of the adware cleaning tools the whole thing goes into meltdown, as my pop-up blocker tries to stop 25 pop-ups at the same time. Have to close the browser and start again.

Cheers Karl.

My next step would be to disable all browser plugins/extensions and try again.
Or reboot into Safe Mode (F8) and download MalwareBytes that way.

Good luck.

Think I may have found it mate. Just been through every program in control panel and googled them all. Found one called "Get the results" looks like it might be the culprit. Trying to clean it up now.

many thanks Karl.

If you choose Xubuntu, it even looks like the 'Windows Classic' desktop theme from win XP, which was a favourite of many.

(Xubuntu is just a different 'flavour' of Linux - in fact it's what I'm using right now to type this. There are a few options you can try with different displays)

Linux is massively more resistant to viruses, bacause of the way it is coded, copying the 'big' server UNIX systems - a LOT more secure.

Yeah agree, forget Mickeysoft...go for a free OS !!
