Can't believe there isn't one with the car. I'd speak to the seller.

I would take it back and ask for a refund!

Have you looked in the bag with the jack? It looks like a screwdriver but with a round end.

The centre cap bolts and the key to undo them look like this:

http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5804475-...

I didn't get a key when I got my 400SE but I found one on eBay - but the only one I've seen since has been on eBay.com from a seller in Hungary (I think) and it was pretty expensive (£50+)

To complicate matters, there are more than one type of bolt and key combination - I bought a Key that had L stamped on it although my bolts have M stamped on them.........it fitted, but only just.

The centre cap is plastic (and rare)so don't be tempted to force it

Another likely quirk with this car (assuming its like it's sister car) is that it has no heating system. And certainly on the green car the a/c didn't work either.

Hey erik!

I saw the green car at Richard Thorpe's place a few months ago.
That appeared to have an American 3 speed auto box.

From the pictures, I'm guessing yours has a four speed ZF? The shifter surround is certainly the same as that on a classic Range Rover using that box.

If so, perhaps this isn't the sister car to the green arab car?

Ive had a look at the chassis, there is rust but it all feels very solid.
Amazing. It starts very well. The Seats had wooden blocks underneath them. 5 cm thick.
It looks like it has a healing system but I will test it. The exhaust needs replacing. Where do I get a really good stainless steel one (I want more power)

I guess all the rubbers need raplacing.
Where are the fuses? Cant find a fusebox. Also the headlights dont come up. Anyone have a plan to fix that?

Plenty of work but I think its a fun car.

Erik, If your car has the same gearbox as the Green car, it will be a special exhaust - at the front to clear the box, and the rear is like a SEAC system - under the diff rather than over the N/S driveshaft. You'll need to find someone local to take the car to to build one.

On RHD cars they're under the drop-down flap beneath the glovebox - where the ECU is located. I would assume it's in the opposite position on LHD cars.

On my LHD:
Relays as said behind the flap under the dash, could be mounted to the bulkhead. ECU is there as well, but mounted to the flap.
Fuses are in the glove box, need to take the back part out: two bolts holding it on mine. That is why it is not so deep.

Hi Rob, I do remember the fuses on my 350 being inside the glove box but on the 400/ 450 series cars they in the same place as the relays.

Can you pull the large flap under the glove box down - it would normally have a little pocket on the front for the handbook?
