Morning Gents,
Does anyone have pictures/descriptions of how to seal off the area between the front bottom corners of the hood, body, door area?
I have a gap there which lets air and rain in. Must be something that works.
On my old 280i there was a small flap on the hood which folded down to cover that area and was pinched in tight by the door when closed. It's not on my 350i.

Pictures and numbers would be great.

Hi Charlie

I have a strip of velcro thats is screwed to the body on the lip that the edge of the roof sits on and some on the hood where it meets the body.

Sorry haven't got a pic as the beast is covered up...

I'm talking specifically about the back corner of the door. I have a gap about the width of the Hood seal and a half inch high from the top of the door to the bottom of the hood.[url] Not my car but right there in the circle.

Mine has this. The Seal will go to the inside of the door, just held out on this shot to see what it looks like.

Seen a few cars where it is there but crumpled up, the owners not aware. It channels the water down the to the drainage gap. On mine, I also have cut outs in the bottom to let the pesky H2O out.

Thanks. I had that on my 280i but the replacement top for the 350i doesn't have one. I'll have to improvise.

Might find there is a rivet there if it was fitted.

Edit. This is what I have done to my door seals at the bottom BTW. Front and rear ate the bottom. I did this to prevent spill over into the cab especially when that flap is keeping water between the seal and the inside. When it got down the bottom carpet was slightly damp. Stopped after this.

I'm getting water building up in the channel between the (driver's) seat mounting rib and the inner part of the sill on my 280i FHC. I can't work out where it is coming in but maybe this is the answer. Any other suggestions as to where it might be getting in would be welcome before I spend a load of money on new door seal rubbers.

If you were a soft top I would defiantly say waterproof the hood. For the soft tops, it will act like a reservoir and feed the stuff in even through the front lid channel. Water proofing means it runs off, much as you treat a gortex coat.

However not familiar with all the goings on in a hard top. You have more permanent seal in place.

However I replaced the seal once and I was getting water in, followed it down and saw it spilling over hence the cut outs. Just past the bottom of both down runs, front and rear of the door as above.
