Spark - You have spark - good
Fuel - The pump is pushing fuel or just running? The tanks has fuel - don't make my mistake... dry tank
Starter fluid - I found giving it a shot or two can get things moving. Too much and you can get a backfire that will separate one of the air side joints.

- Fuel is getting to the cold start injector? - You have a FI system, right?
- Crack a couple of the FI pipe connections at the meter head and see if gas come out (standard gasoline warnings). You will probably want to replace the copper crush washers once it's running.
- Could be a bad fuel filter with blockages
- Download the FI (Bosch CIS) how to guides

hi again i have a good fuel supply to the fuel distribution unit ,but no fuel to the injectors [when cranking the engine], i have been told that the air sucked through the air ducting covering the large disc and goes to the throttle body {is this the case] the large flat disc on the metering unit moves freely up and down when i press it , i have been told not to strip the unit down . any ideas would be a bonus, ps i have tested the injectors all ok [ if all fails can i replace inlet manifold and carb to replace injection system it is a 2.8i

It sounds like the main plunger in the metering head/fuel distribution unit is stuck, this some time happens if the system has not been used for some time. You can get it overhauled or you can find a good working replacement.

hi thanks for help , on checking metering unit/pressure plate , i noticed a upright metal tube on the right of metering unit [ is this a breather or should it have a tube on it connected to ?? also there is an electrical two pin plug on the base of the pressure plate where does the wires go thanks again jaap

JaapdogIf you can provide pics of were and what you are talking about it may help identify what is the problem etc. With regard to a electrical connection on the base of the pressure plate again pic would be useful as none of my 280i systems have this.

Thanks for the pics, I had a feeling your car was this one, I had thought about bidding for it myself.
The tube is the mixture adjuster and the wiring plug is either the cold start injector which is on opposite side of the plenum to the metering head or the cooling sensor which is on the front of the engine. They both have similar looking plugs.
If either of these items is not connected it would have some effect on the running of the engine. But it would not be the thing which stops any fuel getting to the engines main injectors. This is a problem with the fuel metering head. Have a closer look at the plunger at the opposite end of the disc (As you call it.) That should go up and down as the disc goes up and down, if this plunger is stuck (The disc may still move if the plunger is stuck up) then no fuel will get to the injectors.

I have had a closer look at your engine pic and the coolant sensor appears to have its plug in place so the plug by your metering head could be the cold start injector.
I also noticed that you don't have a rad (In the pic) well its a modified Ford item, but as the car has been heavily modified just adapt one to suit!
Hope you sort the problems and get it running soon.
